Hi Varunanactor!

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Our voting system already detects and defeats attempts to stuff the ballot and skew the rating, as demonstrated by the difference between the weighted average and the arithmetic mean on the vast majority of titles in the database. For additional information about IMDb ratings and weighted averages, please refer to our FAQ.

Cheers!

This is not the exact answer I was waiting for.  I am unable to understand two things

1.  How can any one rate movie  without seeing whether it’s 1 or 10 star. As AUHAAM is not released in USA then how can someone rate movie without seeing.

2.   What is unweighted means , why AUHAAM is at 5.5 rating though it has more than 250 + votes on 10star and 9 star.    U can check that.

I have seen that movie.   It’s a suspense movie with beautiful twist and turns.

Anyone is able to rate the movie. About unweighted, the simplest way to explain it is that although we accept and consider all votes received by users, not all votes have the same impact (or ‘weight’) on the final rating.

When unusual voting activity is detected, an alternate weighting calculation may be applied in order to preserve the reliability of our system.

To ensure that our rating mechanism remains effective, we do not disclose the exact method used to generate the rating.
