quote submission

I want to quote characters that are not listed in cast.  I have to, therefore, supply my own generics, such as "Maitre D",  such as often included in imdb cast entries.  I've done this many times before, so I don't understand why its' giving me problems now all of a sudden, constantly rejecting all my attempts, also with a special case I haven't encountered, where the main character's name in the film is same as his real=life name, and not offered as an option in the drop=down for "character" names.
