Question Regarding Images/Photos

Is it possible to choose which of a Title's photos to use as the main image for its article? If so, is it possible to choose an alternate photo for it when it appears in an episode guide, or does the image have to stay consistent?

Hi drewmaru -

To clarify, are you asking about if/how to request a new primary image for a title on the site, for example the primary image that displays on an episode title page and beside the episode listing within the "Episode List" section for a series?

@Michelle
Sorry for this late response. I'm referring to the image that shows up in the upper lefthand corner of an article. Also, is there a way to separate that from the images that show up in the episode guide section of a series?

Oh, I thought you were using my thread to ask a similar question, so I didn't read though it. Oops! Let me check it out. Thanks!

 Hi drewmaru -

To help address the issues you outlined:

1) "Sometimes the suggest as primary image box doesn't appear" - the suggest a primary image box will only display for eligible images, such as Poster images for Films/TV Series titles, or a Still-Frame image for a TV Episode title.  If the box is not displayed, this means the image is not eligible based on the current image type (note some images may be listed with an incorrect type).

2) "...some people wonder why there's so many duplicate images." - This issue needs to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.  There may be instances where duplicate images are listed in error and they can be removed, wherein there are other instances where duplicate images need to remain due to specific editorial restrictions.  For the latter, we are aware of this inconsistency and are continually discussing better ways to handle these.

3) Regarding episode title primary images, these must be still-frame images from the episode (not a series poster),  in most cases still frame images are horizontal and are automatically cropped  to fit in the Primary slot.

4) Regarding primary images for a TV series, please know that our preference is to use the most iconic and widely-recognized poster, preferably from the original airing of the first season (assuming the poster is good quality).

If you have any additional questions or if anything was missed, let us know!
