Question regarding attribute: credit only

I update a lot of news programs. Often a reporter is credited but doesn't appear. With the new list of attributes there is no longer this option. 'Credited, but did not work on this title' is not appropriate. Do we now not care if they appear or not? Should I just list them as being in the program? Tack.

Hi, Karen: Actually, when you click on "Credited, but did not work on this title", what is actually added at the end is the usual attribute (credit only). It's just a way for less experienced contributors to have a definition of the attribute that should be added in that case. Cheers!

In what way are they credited? News programs don't usually list reporters when they occasionally run credits, and typically only the studio anchors are introduced at the beginning of the show. The (voice) attribute is available for taped segments by offscreen reporters, but I'm not sure what situation you're describing.

Depends on what sort of news program you are talking about. I don't necessarily mean the evening news for example. Breakfast television, specialised news programs and political series here often list reporters - not usually during end credits (although it does happen for programs such as Landline, Four Corners, Foreign Correspondent) - but often at the beginning or end of a segment.

Perhaps worth considering whether it is a cast credit. I guess a reporter who doesn't appear on screen or as a voice could also be Additional Crew.

That sounds to me more like a contributing writer or researcher, if you're talking about someone who did background reporting on a story; I agree that's probably Additional Crew.

But I'm not.
