Problem with my IMDB movie listing. Need advice.

Hello,

In 2013 we set out to create an animated movie. and had some of it completed. At that time, someone on our team made a listing for the movie on IMDB.

The problem is that the project was sort of abandoned for a lengthy period and never saw a release. As such, no one reviewed it (except for one person on our team) and no one commented on it.

Only recently, the project was reworked and re-edited and finally finished. Now we are working on setting up the distribution in 2024. The problem is that the listing says that the film is from 2013. Since we set up the listing prematurely and only now are going to release it, we would like to fix that.

How would we change the date from 2013 to 2024? Or does it make sense to delete the listing and start a new one? How would we do that. Another idea would be to just start a new listing, in addition to the old one with the finish date.

I would appreciate any advice you can give. Thank you.

Hi @animas3D-

How was the movie screened in 2013?

Thanks!

Hi Bethanny, as mentioned before, the film was unfinished in 2013 and the project was left by the wayside for years. A rough cut was screened privately amongst the filmmakers around that time, but it was not screened before an audience.

Now that the film is finished (we just finished it last month), and we are working with a distributor to get it out there, I went back to the IMDB page to work on it and the thing that struck me immediately was right in the title it says 2013. This was our fault that we jumped the gun and added to IMDB before it was finished and distributed.

Therefore, what I would like to do is to change the 2013 to 2024, the year this reworked, remastered movie will come out. Note, very few people besides those who were connected to the project have either seen or are aware of this film. Now that we are locking in distribution for the film, however, we expect that will change.

Would it be possible to revise the date to this year? If not, may we delete that listing and just start over with a new one?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi @animas3D -

If the only screening in 2013 was amongst the filmmakers, you can correct the title year by correcting any incorrectly listed release date (if there is one listed) or adding the expected 2024 release date.  Once the correction/addition has been approved, the title year will automatically be corrected.

For more information on how to correct Release Dates I encourage you to review our Help Guide.

Okay great. As we are working with the distributor now, as soon as I get a better idea of the expected release date I will follow the directions you provided. Probably in the next few days. If I have any questions, I'll let you know. Thank you!
