Solved

Problem with adding a new episode

I add a new episode (which is actually the first episode been added into an empty TV-series), but get a validation error for production company and miscellaneous ones. It says it couldn't map the episode (by name or number) to an episode.

At the end it proposes to visit the new episode page, but the link opens a similar page for adding an episode, which gives the same error.

There are no such errors for cast or crew members, though. Also there was no this error a month or two ago, when I worked on the update.

Here is the update number: 260511-235905-810200.

Hello onevitalboy

The formatting when submitting is not correct which is why the error message. I encourage you to take a look at our Episode guidelines for detailed instructions and guidance to submit.

Thank you, @Fran. The guideline helped a bit but didn't resolve the problem completely.

I tried to add some formatting to the episode title for companies manually (both {curly braces} and "quotes" worked). Even formatting for the first company helps to get rid of the error for the rest of companies. At the same time another error appears for empty (unused) companies fields:

Probably, the episode title is added to them under the hood, and validation doesn't see them blank anymore?.. In this case if I check "Cancel this new credit," then the original (formatting) error returns for all companies fields.

It looks like I can submit the episode only if I add 5 or 10 companies but not 6.

Is it really designed that hard, or am I doing something wrong?

Can you post a screenshot for the error when you check mark the cancel this new credit? so we can take a look.

Well, I'll show the detailed steps.

  1. Initially I open the saved contribution. All fulfilled companies are green (except for one with a new role, but it doesn't matter here). The empty companies are red with error of missing company and role:

2. If I "Cancel these new credits" (or just Re-check these updates), then all the companies get the formatting error, also the empty companies still have the required fields error:

3. At this point if I format the episode title {Diary. Part 3} for the 1st company and re-check, then I get the initial result (point 1): green fulfilled companies and red empty companies.

P. S. One more thing. If I format the episode title {Diary. Part 3} and "Cancel these new credits" at the same batch, then I get a slightly different result from point 1:

Green fulfilled companies have empty space on the right, and red empty companies have the episode level warning.

@onevitalboy - Hi again,

Since the episode has not been added, the companies sections are failing to locate the episode live on the site in order to validate. Please follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to your saved contribution (260511-235905-810200)
  2. Under "Production Companies" and "Miscellaneous Companies" on the drop-downs of 'Add x item' select 'No change' on each one
  3. Re-check updates and Submit the episode with just the basic info, cast/crew, language, running time, links, and filming locations
  4. Once the episode is live on the site, submit the Production Companies and Miscellaneous Companies

@Maya

It seems like a bug that the form includes an episode field at all.
