Problem submitting date of death when obituary does not give it (reasonable assumption of "this year")

Some obituaries and/or death announcements do not give the date of death. Is it reasonable to assume that an obituary published in November relates to a death some time in the current year?

I've had several dates of death which have been rejected as "We have been unable to verify your contribution.", even though I've said "no date given, but assume 2024" to explain that I'm assuming current year, even though I'm not assuming "no more than a few days before the obituary was published". Does "unable to verify" mean "can't even read the obituary" or does it mean "can read it but it doesn't give date"?

Submissions are:

241107-194853-729000
241107-195351-538000
241106-210428-320000

The obituaries cited clearly establish the fact of the death, and I think, this late in the year, it is reasonable to assume that the death occurred some time that same year, and probably no more than a month or so before publication of obituary, allowing for time to write it and for newspaper to have space to include it.

Maybe IMDB needs to separate "fact of death" and "date of death" so as to still record that someone has died, even if the precise day/month/year date cannot be established.

Hello martin_695862,

You will need to contribute with the correct exact Death date for us to approve the contribution. In this case when the exact date is public, you can add the missing Death Dates.

You can find additional details in our Help Articles.

@Fran OK, I very much doubt whether these deaths, which have been confirmed as facts, will ever get recorded in IMDB. Your choice to reject them...
