In Progress

Posted entries in Trivia section of Interview with the Vampire (Season 3) are removed without explanation

As stated, based on the trivia section guidelines, the only standard that seems to apply is "true and factual". When checked against the contribution history, the rationale for removal could not be found.  Unless the contributer can provide their reasoning why it was removed for the first three episodes, it is hard to believe that they have acted in good faith. How are said entries false and misleading?

Hi LaserMax2070-

In order for our staff to further review, can you post the 18-digit submission reference number(s) for these trivia contributions?

Cheers!

It is a fact it happened

260610-023352-065000

260611-062615-533000

260611-065242-896000

260615-221759-636000

260609-234427-097000

260611-065242-896000

260616-093536-934000

260618-021431-219000

260618-134633-825000

260618-141402-281000

I modified this so that it would dovetail with the next mention of Thomas Pitt in next episode, but the contributer does not see it as relevant

260616-012517-375000

This was added multiple times before it was accepted, after removing it several times

260615-093948-119000

260616-222521-145000

260618-021802-601000

The contributer took issue with my travelogue description of Haight-Ashbury, till it was implied that it belonged in Don't Be Afraid Just Start the Tape. But the implication of the title was explicitily mentioned in Ep 1, with the image of said book in bookstore.

260614-042401-573000

I specifically added this entry, because the events happened over multiple episodes and even bleed over into another season

260618-155549-263000

The contributer does not see it as relevant

260618-171501-682000

I included this because I thought it was important part of Lestat's backstory

260618-171501-682000

I do not see why the contributer does not see it as relevant

The reason why I put it the spoiler section, if you watch these series long enough and if a show has multiple season with multiple episodes per season , broadcast years apart, average user would have trouble remembering what was said and where it happened

I mentioned there were two other attacks on Lestat life

260626-022636-358000

Daniel Malloy would not live long

260626-021909-403000

I put it up they take it down

260626-004210-161000

260626-005533-660000

The contributer needs to justify his removals, otherwise I have no choice to conclude this is a pattern of harrassment, and punitive measures must be applied

It seems like the contributer is getting a little bit more hostitle than last time, instead of removing the enttries outright he is now interjecting with his opinion. It is outright condescending and reductive without looking at the whole picture:

260705-044531-533000

260705-025356-699000

260705-050515-109000

If I add something that seems like a plot point it is one of three reason:

1) More context or content was added since it was last mentioned

2) Provenance (when it happened)

3) Short on-screen duration, it could easily be missed if you are not paying attention

That being said, there were situations, where the contributer's revisions were good if not better, but it is hard to work with someone you can not TRUST, or not acting in GOOD FAITH.

@LaserMax2070

Are you the one who put in an entry on Lord Byron that he was married to Mary Shelley?

Upon reflection, I made a clerical error, I confused Lord Byron with Percy Bysshe Shelley, buy they were contemporaries who share lodgings in Switzerland

I am the one who removed the unnecessary reference to Mary Shelley, after which my edit was apparently reverted, hence my question.

I also added a possessive ending in the same item (Lestat's). There are several such grammar and punctuation errors on the pages you are referring to.

Also, the item which just consists of a quoted line could do with some context for why it is relevant as trivia; otherwise, memorable quotes belong on the quotes pages.

To be clear, I did not make the other edits to the pages that you have referred to earlier in this post.

If I offended you I apologize:

I was dealing with an abusive contributer, it sort split my focus.

1) It was good that you asked the question, I do not know if you recall this, Lord Byron and Mary Shelley were part of an artist colony in Switzerlerland that hashed out some of the supernatural stories that we know of today like Frankenstein. John Pollidori wrote the Vampyre. I would like to include it  unless there is a strong reservation not to. Bram Stoker wrote the vampire story that most know today, but I do not think it should diminish Pollidori contribution, it enriched our literary culture.

2) I looked at your personal page. It says that you are from Denmark, I am assuming you were taught English as a Foreign Language in school. I suspect that it was British-English. Full disclosure, I am a practitioner of American-English, that may be the source of our contention. Publishing Houses, and certain websites have a "House of Style" manual with respect to Spelling and Punctuation, is there such a manual here? As far as I can tell the Founders were English, a big chunk of their content is American, so I do not know which rules apply.

3) Are you talking about the 1800's quote. I thought that was a strong part of his backstory that informed his character. It begs certain questions, why did he go to sleep for so long, was it because of Nicky? It was just an issue of provenance. When did we learn this factoid about Lestat ?

4) How did you know to seek me out ?

To confirm did you write this:

Lestat said, referring to a literal plot point, "I had buried myself underground for the vast majority of the 1800s". The user who continues to re-upload plot points here has also been buried underground since the 1800s.

@LaserMax2070

No, I did not write that.

I am a contributor who reads this forum. I didn't particularly seek you out.

The grammar or punctuation issues I'm referring to don't have to do with British or American English. Another example: there shouldn't be spaces before commas.
