Page for Ed Battle contains credits for two different people.

I discovered a mistake and I don't know how to fix it. Hopefully someone here will correct it. This page for Ed Battle (Edwin Louis Battle 1957-1993 https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0061502) contains credits for 2 different people both named Ed Battle. A new page needs to be created for jazz singer Ed Battle (Born Edward Reed Battle Jr. August 8, 1934, in Bridgetown, NJ. Died December 26, 2019 in Denver, CO) and the credits need to be moved to the new page. I was able to confirm with 100% certainty that jazz singer Ed Battle appeared in The Forgotten One (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099601), The Chase (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101566), and JazzTown (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15920898). While I could not find Almost Blue (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103655) online, it is a jazz themed movie and it is mentioned in his obituaries so it's safe to assume it was him. From his obituary at https://www.kuvo.org/rip-ed-battle-jr/ "Battle also made appearances in various films shot in part in Denver. Of note was his role in 1996’s Almost Blue, a film about a jazz saxophonist." From his obituary at https://www.westword.com/music/ed-battle-obituary-11593972 "He also appeared in several films, including The Chase, The Forgotten One and 1996’s Almost Blue, which was shot in Denver..."  This is a photo of him from the IMDb page for JazzTown: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15920898/mediaviewer/rm1403447297/ He can be seen here at 27:08 of The Forgotten One: https://youtu.be/l4NkvJmSfAs and at 14:05 of this dubbed version of The Chase playing a good samaritan: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TAY6XChQRos There is a decent shot of his face at 14:15 and it's clearly not the much younger and thinner Ed Battle from Mother's Day seen here at 15:05 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gszzkQrAjYc and The Dreamcoat Special seen here at 15:30 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=L8ye6aGF6XI There is also a lot of autobiographical information in his obituaries, perhaps some of that can be added to the new page.

Hi @MyIMDbemailis -

I have created a new name page for Jazz Ed Battle, you can find it here, I move the mentioned credits to that page, if there is any remaining info feel free to add it by clicking 'Edit page'.

Cheers!

Thank you. I've never corrected a credit when there was no page for the actor and I was concerned that I would mess it up if I attempted it myself.

@Bethanny  By the way, while looking into this, I found this page for Edwin Battle https://www.imdb.com/name/nm10748722/ and I strongly suspect it is this Ed Battle https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0061502/ I'm 99% sure it is the same person. Ed Battle was credited as Edwin Louis Battle in the Matrix and he received a "dedicated in loving memory to Edwin Battle" credit in The Dreamcoat Special. So Ed Battle was being credited as Edwin. You can compare the two at 29:34 of the Peaches episode of Leg Work https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=s-Aus3OxMRA&t=29m34s and at 14:52 of Mother's Day https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gszzkQrAjYc&t=14m52s Unfortunately in Leg Work he is shown at a distance behind glass but he strongly resembles Ed Battle and the voice sounds the same. I'll let you make the judgment call as to whether the two pages should be merged.
