Orson Welles voice credit in 'The Other Side of the Wind' (2018)

Hello,

I've been trying to add, a few times already, an uncredited voice credit for Orson Welles in his final directorial film, 'The Other Side of the Wind'. In scenes with Lili Palmer, Welles voiced a character which in the script was called Fiona, interviewing Palmer. Presumably Welles meant to dub this character with a female voice, but he never did. When the editing was done on the film in 2017/2018, the producers decided to leave Welles' voice in it as a cameo. Since he is uncredited, I've never had any luck with adding this credit, despite sending in links, like reviews noting his voice being in the film. In my last submission, I've enclosed the link to an interview with Frank Marshall and Joseph McBride (https://www.wellesnet.com/video-telluride-panel-other-side-wind/) who both worked on the film both in the original shooting stages in the 1970s, and in the final editing stages in 2017/2018, confirming his vocal presence in the film, yet it was still declined.

Hello capdeac,

We do not allow "Uncredited" Voice credits, you can find additional information in our Help Articles.

@Fran Well I understand the policy due to difficulty of verifying, but for wanting to be "as complete a database as possible", there is, in this case, evidence that it is his voice. Producers confirm it in an interview. I see a lot of uncredited voice credits of wellknown actors all over IMDB. Of course, this is just my opinion, but I feel exceptions should be made if there is clear evidence that it does concern the person, even if uncredited. Otherwise IMDB will be left with many incomplete filmographies. In the case of Orson Welles I'd even argue it's historic, since it's his final role in his final film.

Based on the guidelines we won't be able to list the credit, if you see invalid voice credits you can submit the deletion requests to have the data corrected.

@Fran I understand, but I'll maintain it's absolutely ridiculous. But thank you for your response.

@Fran I found a post by Michelle where she notes that IMDB makes, I quote 'rare exceptions to the "uncredited" rule  for 'voice cameos' by high-profile actors'. https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/guidelines-expansion-neccesity-uncredited-voice-appearances-of-notable-actors/6187b90f203b6a57f41b98ea?commentId=618ae207cd6ade3bf4215243 I think, in the case of Orson Welles, that is absolutely valid. Is there a chance of a reconsideration? And like Michelle notes in the post, to add this exception to the guideline? Thank you.

Thanks for the information!! We are reviewing with our policy team to determine if an exception would be eligible. We'll update this thread once we receive further information.

Thanks to you all for your patience!
