original title

I can't find a company support contact on IMDb, so I'm requesting this as a question.
I've been watching a lot of Chinese dramas. IMDb has more and more Chinese dramas and movies. However, there are many cases where the title is newly created in English. So it's hard to find because it doesn't say what the original title is.
If you don't have browser font settings, it won't be displayed, but I think that "original title" is necessary.
Among Chinese dramas, the most-watched  "Sansei Sansei Juri Peach Blossom (2017 Lin Yufen's old-fashioned TV show)". Over 50 billion times. This drama is also on IMDb, but the title is translated as "Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossom". However, since the 'original title' is not listed, it will be difficult for those who do not know to know.
Please, I think it would be good to make it mandatory to write "original title" for non-English-speaking dramas and movies. Thank you.

Marvel: I suspect that the title "Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossom" should not be the primary title under IMDb policy.

Because this is a Chinese TV show, I would have expected the main title on screen when the show was first broadcast to be in Chinese characters, such as "三生三世十里桃花" which is listed in the AKA section of the series' IMDb page at https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6488862/releaseinfo.

And since a primary title on IMDb must be expressed in the Latin alphabet rather than in Chinese characters, I would have expected that title to be given in pinyin. That would make it something like "San sheng sanshi shili taohua". (I don't speak or read Chinese; I'm just going by what I find on Google Translate.)

To put this in terms that everyone here can understand, the IMDb primary title of the film known in the English-speaking world as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is not Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, nor 臥虎藏龍 -- it's Wo hu cang long.

So I would recommend submitting the original title, expressed in pinyin, to IMDb as a Title Correction, with the explanation: "This is a Chinese TV series, and its original title was displayed on screen in Chinese. This corrected title is the transliterated title."

Good luck!

@gromit82

Hi. gromit82. Thanks.
Pinyin is Chinese itself. If 拼音 Pinyin can read and write, so can Chinese.
If you enter 拼音 Pinyin into Google Translate, it will be recognized as Chinese.
If the reason is that the IMDb database only supports 2 bytes,  Pinyin notation may be unavoidable.

However, it has the following problems.
Neither English nor Chinese are my native languages, so it is difficult for me to speak with you and discuss on IMDb. However, Chinese entertainment is increasing more and more, so I would like IMDb to support it.
IMDb is operated by Amazon.
The world of IMDb is
It is said to be GAFAM, but it is a major US IT company. The world of Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple, Microsoft.
China, on the other hand, is a completely different world.
It is said to be BATH, but it is a giant Chinese IT company. Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, Huawei. This is the world of

Both are separated by the "Great Firewall" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Firewall.
From mainland China (where over 1.4 billion people live), IMDb is probably not available.
But China's entertainment is now the world's great, surpassing even Hollywood. So I think IMDb needs a compromise.
The title should be able to be used in Chinese as well as in English.

the biggest reason
The way Chinese dramas and movies are made is to create many works with the same title.
The Chinese works currently on IMDb are only one if there are multiple dramas and movies. Moreover, it is often the work that has not received the greatest appreciation.
There are still many actors who are not registered on IMDb. As a result, there are still many works that cannot appear on IMDb.

The drama with the same title that has been created the most is " 笑傲江湖".
IMDb has two works.
1) Xiao ao jianghu (TV Series 2013– ) - IMDb
2) Xiao ao jiang hu (TV Series 2000– ) - IMDb

Below is the search result of Baidu Encyclopedia in China.
https://baike.baidu.com/search?word=%E7%AC%91%E5%82%B2%E6%B1%9F%E6%B9%96&pn=0&rn=0&enc=utf8

There are about 8 works of "射雕英雄传".
Also on IMDb
1) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1096982/?ref_=tt_sims_tt_i_1
Starring Liu Yifei
2) She diao ying xiong zhuan (TV Series 2008– ) - IMDb
Ariel Lin Starring
3) She diao ying xiong zhuan (TV Series 2017) - IMDb
Li Yitong Starring

Below is the search result of Baidu Encyclopedia in China.

李一桐 Li Yitong is still blank on IMDb, but the most famous of the "射雕英雄传" is the one starring Li Yitong.

刘亦菲 Liu Yifei seems to be famous in the English-speaking world because her nationality is American and she starred in the 2000 Disney movie Mulan.

Novels, games, comics, etc. are included, but all 8 dramas are hits.
(For exploring the world of Chinese beyond the Great Firewall, 百度百科 Baidu is useful and valuable.)

In addition, there are cases where multiple long dramas are integrated.
"Samurai Hero" is a dramatization of a novel written by author Louis Cha Jin Yong.
And, it is said to be the Baidu Encyclopedia

Each of the three works, "射雕英雄传", "神雕侠侣", and "倚天屠龙记", is a masterpiece, but if you watch all three, you will be able to know the magnificent story.

thank you so much. marvel

Marvel: I am not sure that I can respond to all your comments, but I have a few things to add.

The IMDb data acquisition staff relies heavily on contributors -- many of whom are regular people not involved in the entertainment business -- to submit data to the database. If Chinese people living in mainland China don't have access to IMDb, then information about Chinese TV shows can be submitted, for example, by viewers who live outside mainland China.

You wrote, "There are still many actors who are not registered on IMDb. As a result, there are still many works that cannot appear on IMDb." It is actually the opposite situation. IMDb is primarily a title-based database. So whenever there is a television series or film not currently listed in IMDb, a viewer can submit the information about that television series or film to IMDb -- including the names of the actors. And once the IMDb staff has processed that data, the actors will also be registered in IMDb.

If Chinese television companies produce several versions of the same story over the years, even with the same title, that does not create a problem for IMDb. Each of those versions can and should have its own entry in IMDb. IMDb distinguishes them by their year. Examples:

"She diao ying xiong zhuan" (1983)

"She diao ying xiong zhuan" (2008)

"She diao ying xiong zhuan" (2017)

and others ...

If there are still other versions not listed in IMDb, that is because IMDb does not know about them yet, and viewers should submit them to the database for listing. Remember that much of the IMDb staff is located in the UK and the US, but they still want to receive information from all over the world.

Also, you mentioned that "李一桐 Li Yitong is still blank on IMDb", but I believe that she is listed as Yitong Li (I). The IMDb policy on Asian names has changed over the years. Nowadays Chinese people can be listed in IMDb surname-first, but it used to be that they had to be listed given-name-first in Western order, which appears to still be the case for Li Yitong.

I hope some of this information helps.

Hi. gromit82. You read my poorly long English very well and wrote the answer. Thank you.
Sorry about that. I write a few as if they were counterarguments. I don't want you to think of it as a counterargument. I want you to think that it is an action for the advance.

I'm still not good at asking questions, so I'll write the main article and revise it a little later. I'm still editing Wikipedia.

Now.
when looking for the work
1) Search by title
2) Search by actor. I think there are two methods.

First, the problem was that the title was translated into English and I couldn't find it.

I write Baidu Encyclopedia Baidu links every time. Please read the link. I'm sure you will understand my question.
(Like you, it may be difficult to understand because I can't link it)

Baidu Encyclopedia I will write again the search results of Baidu's "射雕英雄传".
https://baike.baidu.com/search?word=%E5%B0%84%E9%9B%95%E8%8B%B1%E9%9B%84%E4%BC%A0&pn=0&rn=0&enc=utf8

You wrote 3 links, but even in mainland China where there is no language barrier, the 3 are written as follows.

1) 射雕英雄传 (2017 TV Asahi, starring Li Yitong)
2) 射雕英雄传 (1983 Hong Kong Radio Television Exhibited Television)
3) 射雕英雄传 (2008 Huga, TV starring Yi Chen Hayashi)
Looking at other works that are hits, there are Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc.
Chinese dramas and movies are produced by integrating mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The actor's explanation is also often mainland, Hong Kong, or Taiwan.

Why do you write not only the year, but also the names of the leading actors and directors, mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc.? "I think you'll realize it little by little, but it's necessary for identification."

The reason why I didn't mention Li Yitong is that his name appears in "射雕英雄传", but it's just his name. There is no name because it is completely impossible to search for works by name. I wrote.

Until recently, she also wrote for Li Yitong and Baidu Encyclopedia Baidu. However, Li Yitong Li Yitong is the top star, so I recently changed the notation to "Katyushaga, whitehairpin".
(whitehairpin, white hairpin, he's a hairpin, white)
The Chinese version of Wikipedia still says Li Yitong.

https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%9D%8E%E8%97%9D%E5%BD%A4

However, there are many cases where the notation is duplicated, so I used the name of a famous actor as an example.

Another point is that there is also an actor with the same name.
Actor names are still not enough, but when the number increases in the future, it will be difficult to identify actors with the same name.

From such a point of view, I think that it is necessary to consider the title of the work and the method of writing the title of the work.

Finally, I will write one.
Korean entertainment started earlier than China and Taiwan as a national policy. Many dramas and movies are still being made, and I think that the genre "K-POP" has become a global word.
The same is true for Taiwan.
China has taken a lot from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, etc. and has further evolved.

A cultural term "ACGN" was created. An abbreviation that combines Animation, Comic, Game, Novel.
As for the meaning of kanji, there are cases where it has a meaning that did not exist in the past.

"Moe" was originally "Meng" in "Mencius", but now "Moe (ACGN cultural term) - Alchetron, The Free Social Encyclopedia"
https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E8%90%8C/6873536?fromModule=search-result_lemma

This is from a Q&A site called "HiNative".
An American wanted to know the meaning of "甜宠" (used as a type of drama), so asked.
A Chinese person answered.
“甜”means “sweet” and “宠” means “pet”.So “甜宠”means there’s someone cosset you and treat you like a baby or a pet.

https://ja.hinative.com/questions/19823810

The People's Republic of China, as a republic of 56 ethnic groups, continues to evolve vigorously, taking in good things from around the world.
I'm writing this because I want more IMDb users to know about its good points.

thank you so much. marvel
