Solved

Now that the actor credits for character name and voice attribute have been separated, how to credit someone for both in the same title?

Dear staff,

If an actor appears both in the flesh in a role in a movie or a TV episode , but also voices a character, I think in the past you could submit their characters with slashes in one entry:

Jane Doe (III) - Marian/Ghost (voice)

but now that 'voice' has become a separate attribute from a drop-down list with tick boxes, the IMDb submission form appears to block all my attempts to enter these two roles for the same actor.

Just to make sure, this is not a case of dubbing in another language, but for the original production.

How to go about this?

Regards,

Richard

Hi, Richard:

This is a classic question on IMDb, and it's been asked for many, many years; even back when (voice) had to be entered manually in the attribute field before it became a selectable item like it is now.

Since there is no ideal solution—which would be to add two entries for the same actor—IMDb has traditionally offered the following workaround:

Jane Doe (III) - Marian/Voice of Ghost

(I'm assuming, of course, that both characters [Marian, Ghost] are listed in the on-screen credits...)

Cheers!

@ljdoncel Thanks for the solution! I wasn't aware this had been discussed 'to death' already .... ;-)

Still just a workaround, then? Far from ideal, epecially given the current policy of reorganizing and streamlining voice actor and dubbing credits..

If the staff can't come up with something more definitive, I'll give it a try.

P.S. I tried to submit two entries for the same actor, but this was rejected by the form: "This actor is already listed for this title, please enter with slashes".

Regards,

Richard
