Nonexistent rating certificate: USA:18+
There are over 300 titles in the database, both films and television series, which are listed with a rating certificate of United States:18+. See https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?certificates=US:18%2B for a list.
However, there is no such rating in the USA:
- The strictest rating for films is NC-17 (the ratings are G, PG, PG-13, R, and NC-17).
- The strictest rating for television is TV-MA (the ratings are TV-Y, TV-Y7, TV-G, TV-PG, TV-14, and TV-MA).
I have no idea where the idea of a US certificate of "18+" comes from.
As this affects a total of 381 titles, I recommend that the IMDb staff delete this certificate from all titles and block it from being re-added.

Hi @gromit82 -
Thanks for your report. I have now removed all the invalid USA: 18+ live certificate listings from the site. I have also filed a ticket for the appropriate team to review and consider contribution form improvements to help prevent future additions of invalid certificates.
Thanks again!

Michelle: There are still 18 titles shown as having the supposed US:18+ certificate. See https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?certificates=US:18%2B for the list.

Maybe some people are confusing ”Unrated” to 18+? Even when ”Unrated” literally means that the film has not been rated. And it’s basically a promotional thing now (in DVD/Blu-ray) also.
I have never heard of ”18” rating in the US. Before ”NC-17” there was ”X”.
