New Submission Email Format - suggestions for small improvements
I see that from 1 October 2024 the format of the submission-confirmation email has been changed. The new format looks good.
I've just got a couple of suggestions that might make it easier to go to the relevant title/person entry more easily:
- For TV episodes as opposed to films, give the whole series/episode-title/episode-number, rather than only the episode title with no indication of which series it relates to. For example: "Sexton Blake" (1967) {The Find The Lady Affair: Part 1 - The Lady Vanishes (#1.1)} rather than The Find The Lady Affair: Part 1 - The Lady Vanishes. Alternatively you could list it as:
Series: "Sexton Blake" (1967)
Episode: The Find The Lady Affair: Part 1 - The Lady Vanishes
Number: 1.1
ideally with the field values lined up vertically.
- Make the "View Status of this Contribution" link more visually obvious (maybe a button with "IMDB yellow" background) and put a copy of it at the top of the details of the submission as well as at the bottom, so it is not necessary to scroll to the bottom of what may be a long list in order to find the link.
- (This may already have been done) In the old format, corrections or additions to an episode title or number were not listed in the email. Have you added this, together with relevant "has it been actioned yet?" tracking, for the new format? I've not submitted an episode title change since the new format was introduced, so I can't tell.

A question:
Keyword edits where I changed the keyword text used to be listed in email receipts under "Keywords - Replace", but are now under "Adds" and "Removals". Is this intentional? Does it represent how keyword edits are processed?
I would think that if there is doubt whether changing a keyword is acceptable, the context of what I am replacing it with is important.

I've noticed a "funny" in the new format. Where several crew are submitted in the same department, they are not grouped together, but nor are entries listed in alphabetical order of surname, so I'm not sure what order is being used.
It would be very useful if crew names were grouped by department, in the order in which they are listed on a Title page (and maybe alphabetically within each department) - it's easier to check that way!
Here's an example (note the various "Additional Crew" which are not grouped together):
241012-224730-997000
A Kind of Alaska
Items submitted: 13
Adds: 12
1.Additional Crew:
•Name: Ainsworth, Alison
•Occupation: production secretary
2.Crew Completion:
•Crew: I have completed the crew
3.Costume Designer:
•Name: Dark, James (I)
4.Additional Crew:
•Name: Cons, Bernard (II)
•Occupation: floor manager
5.Camera Department:
•Name: Bartlett, Dennis
•Occupation: cameras
6.Camera Department:
•Name: Bates, Terry (VI)
•Occupation: vision control
7.Casting Department:
•Name: Ford, Barry (II)
•Occupation: casting
8.Additional Crew:
•Name: Turner, Christine
•Occupation: production assistant
9.Additional Crew:
•Name: King, David
•Occupation: stage manager
10.Camera Department:
•Name: Watt, John (VII)
•Occupation: lighting
11.Make Up Department:
•Name: Muslin, Shirley
•Occupation: make-up
12.Editorial Department:
•Name: Legg, Carole
•Occupation: vision mixer
Edits: 1
1.Editor:
Before
•Name: Hawkins, John (II)
After
•Name: Hawkins, John (II)
•Attribute: (videotape editor)
One other really trivial thing: it might be better if there was a small amount of vertical space between entries (eg between sections 10 and 11) and no space between attributes within the same person:
10.Camera Department:
•Name: Watt, John (VII)
•Occupation: lighting
11.Make Up Department:
•Name: Muslin, Shirley
•Occupation: make-up
rather than
10.Camera Department:
•Name: Watt, John (VII)
•Occupation: lighting
11.Make Up Department:
•Name: Muslin, Shirley
•Occupation: make-up

Thanks for moving the link that opens the submission from the bottom of the long list of submissions to the top. Much appreciated!
Now you just need to sort out two remaining things:
- For a TV episode, display the series title and the episode number, in addition to the episode title that you already do. Listing only the episode title makes it very difficult to tell what it relates to, as you glance at each email in turn.
- Group submissions for the same department together: all the cast, all the producers, all the sound crew etc, rather than mingling them at random; probably better to mix additions, deletions and changes for a given department, rather than grouping all the additions together (sub-divided by department), then all the deletions, then all the changes.

Just wanted to say a big "thank you": I see that as of late on 12 December the confirmation emails now included the series name and the episode number, in the standard format "Z Cars" (1962) {Incitement}. This is an excellent improvement.
It might be useful if you also added the episode number as well - eg "Z Cars" (1962) {Incitement (#10.23)}, as I originally suggested.
