Need help removing a duplicate credit

A 3rd party has submitted one of my credits and has entered it incorrectly: the job title is incorrect, and as I already have a correct approved credit on this episode, with the correct job title, this 3rd party entered credit is not only incorrect, its also a duplicate credit.

I have explained this in requests about four times by now, in a high level of detail, I have provided screenshots as proof, and have even suggested that an authenticator need only to check my imdb profile to see straight away, that I'm correctly credited on every episode of this show, making the duplicate credit with an incorrect job title pretty obvious.

Sadly though, each time I get declined and told it could not be authenticated... this suggests to me that whomever is declining these requests is failing to authenticate because they aren't actually making any effort to authenticate it in first... anyone would see immediately that what I'm saying is true, correct and accurate and can be authenticated very easily, if they would just check my evidence images and/or my imdb profile.

Can someone on the imdb authentication staff please check this and help me out? I am also a paying account holder with imdpbPro, and I honestly thought that fact would make it easier to process a simple request like this..

Thanks in advance.

Hi robmacb,

Thank you for your problem report.

I've looked into this issue and based on our policy regarding on-screen credits, this credit is correctly listed and must remain on the site. To clarify, I have verified that you are credited on-screen with this credit for this episode. However, if you are credited on-screen as a senior paint artist on any of these episodes, you will need to provide evidence of the on-screen credits in any further credit corrections. For more information on this, please see our Help guide.

Furthermore, I have also verified that you are not credited on-screen for every episode on this title, and as such, these credits have been removed. However, if you did work on these episodes but were not credited on-screen, you will need to re-submit your credit to any remaining episodes with the "(uncredited)" attribute.

For more information, please refer to our Filmography FAQs.

I hope this helps!

Ozzy.

This does not help me at all. In fact, by removing credits outside of the one I was asking for help with, which were already correctly listed with my correct job title, you have effectively defaced my imdb profile, which is a public profile that I use in the commission of my work as a film industry employee. I am also a paying member of the imdb.

What you have done has made me seriously question why I am paying for an imdb account in the first place, if I am unable to effect changes to make sure the correct credits are displayed, with the correct job title. You have ultimately created even more work for me, in order for me to now untangle the mess you have created.

I appreciate that some credits will be listed differently and appear differently depending on who is entering them, and where they were sourced from. But I can tell you from experience, that in the commission of my work, administrative people regularly mis-print my on screen credits. My job title is frequently displayed incorrectly, sometimes in the wrong department and sometimes with the wrong job title.

The only person who knows my correct job title and can make sure it is displayed correctly every time, is me: the actual human who does the actual job and remembers what my job title is from actually getting paid to do it.

Furthermore, do you understand how vendor/client screen credit allotments are managed? (probably not, because you don't work in the film industry) Each client is different and each client allots a finite character limit, for vendors, per film, per show, and its up to administrators within that company to come up with the most novel ways to display screen credits within those limitations. This often boils down to an artist's name being inserted into some of the screen credits, but not all of the screen credits.

Nepotism is also a big problem in these circles, as often times employees who are closer to the screen credit process will manipulate the system to make sure their name appears as many times as possible, which in turn often means the artists who actually did work on an IP, are only credited some of the time, due to the limitations of said character limit. Also, sometimes a number of employees who work in limited or niche fields, are lumped together under the banners of other departments to save on spacing.

So due to all these factors (and many more I won't list) there are myriad reasons why the onscreen credits are often incorrect, and the IMDB is actually the only weighty, valid place for these credits to be recorded with a greater sense of accuracy and correctness. In fact its probably the ONLY place where people can rest assured that their work will be accurately recorded.

I would appreciate it if you could undo all the changes you've made in your attempt at 'helping me' and forget this conversation ever took place...

Hi robmacb,

It is IMDb's policy to list credits as they appear on-screen, as per our standard guidelines reflected in this FAQ:

Why have you deleted one or more of my credits?

Data on IMDb is always subject to change and we reserve the right to withdraw or delete information at any time.

Due to the massive volumes of credits that they process on a daily basis, our editors are normally unable to look into specific reasons why information has been deleted or changed.

Important: if the credit used to be included in the cast/crew of a new or upcoming release and it was subsequently deleted, it means that we couldn't verify that it appeared in the onscreen credits.

Credits for new/unreleased titles are always accepted provisionally. When the film is about to be released, we revise our listing based on the film's actual on-screen credits and/or on details provided by the studio or production company. Please remember that we aim to list credits as they appear on screen. If the cast or crew member did not receive a screen credit, we will probably remove them. For more information about the eligibility of uncredited work, please see this page.(...)

As previously stated, if you're able to provide evidence such as a pay stub to help us verify that you completed work on these specific episodes for which you were not credited on-screen, you should re-contribute the associated credits with this evidence, and add the "(uncredited)" attribute.

I would also encourage you to look into our new and updated professions, whereby you can manually select how you'd like your IMDbPro page to represent the work you do. You can find guidance on how to manage your professions in this guide.

I hope this helps!

You haven't helped me in any way, so no this doesn't help. Please don't reply or involve yourself further.
