Name split: "I don't know"?

I would like to suggest a change to something in the Name Split function.

Let's say we are talking about a person whom I will refer to as "Firstname Lastname" who is listed with credits as an Actor and in the Sound Department, but in fact the Actor is one person and the Sound Department member is a different person.

If you attempt to do a name split for Mr. Lastname, the choices for each department in the drop-down box will be:

• Don't move [Lastname, Firstname]
• I don't know [Lastname, Firstname (II)]
• Other (use box)

However, in many cases, the contributor will know that the credits for one of those departments need to be split to Lastname, Firstname (II). In fact, often the person making that submission will be one of the "Firstname Lastname" people themselves. They might know exactly that the Sound Department credits need to be changed to Lastname, Firstname (II) because that is the contributor themself.

When I advise people on splitting their own credits, I tell them to select "Other (use box)" and enter Lastname, Firstname (II) in the right-hand box, because I don't want to tell them to say they don't know what credits belong to themself.

I suggest that the choices be modified to say instead:

• Don't move [Lastname, Firstname]
• Create new name [Lastname, Firstname (II)]
• Other (use box)
• I don't know
