Name Merge - What went wrong?

220426-173536-187000:

There were two entries for "Max Greger and His Orchestra". The second was "The Max Greger Orchestra". So I requested a merge from "The Max Greger Orchestra" to "Max Greger and His Orchestra". But what happened was the opposite: "Max Greger and His Orchestra" was merged to "The Max Greger Orchestra".  And no "credited as " are shown. There were some "credited as" on the second entry that seem to be lost now.

Can you help me?

Hi jochen_bauer-

I can help fix this, so first, just to make sure I understand, the name that should remain on the page is "Max Greger and His Orchestra", correct?
And also, which of the credits should have a "credited as"? so we can add them, and it should be a (as "The Max Greger Orchestra") correct?
Let us know so we can help solve this issue.

Thanks!

Thanks Bethanny.

"Max Greger and His Orchestra" should be the dislayed name. But the main-problem is that all "credited as" are lost. I can't give you even one! Can they be retrieved or can you find out who the editor was?

For me it is more important to find the cause, if possible, because my next merge will be a big one!

I can do screenshots beforehand but I don't want it to become a habit.

Hi jochen_bauer-

In this case what happened is that we typically retain the name page with the name where a person is most commonly known as or with the most current professional name, since the majority of credits were listed under the name "The Max Greger Orchestra" this is why we retained this page.  If you are requesting a similar merge, where you are moving a page with a large number of credits to a page with minimal credits, please be sure to include the reason in the Explanation field (such as: "this performer is now using the name "ABC XYZ", requesting a merge to the current IMDb page"), that way we know to preserve the one with the least credits instead. And no worries no need to take screenshots, with the explanation on the submission it will be enough.
Regarding this current one, the name has now been fixed and  we added the applicable attributes, if there are any outstanding errors you can submit the corrections directly to the credits.

Thanks!

"majority of credits were listed under the name "The Max Greger Orchestra""

That was not the case here. There was one credit as "The Max Greger Orchestra" the rest was something else.
