My name is not showing in right order in the IMDB suggestion

Hi,
I am adding my credit for the 1st time, and I found that my name is not there in the suggestion dropdown. When I am adding Result not shown, the suggested name is not in proper order. So, my name is 'Priya Ranjan Deb' and the suggested name appears as 'Deb, Priya Ranjan' which is very annoying, and I am not adding my credit for this reason.

Is there any way to add my name in proper order, this is very important for me.

Thanks.

Priya: If "Deb" is your surname (family name), then Deb, Priya Ranjan is likely to be correct. As explained at https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/names-biographical-data/names/GSA3M6SFHRAERXZ3#general:

Names are stored in the database in the following form: Last Name, First Name(s).

For example:

  • Tom Cruise is stored as Cruise, Tom
  • James Earl Jones is stored as Jones, James Earl

This is what you'll see when submitting names via the contribution experience, for example a cast submission:

Example of naming convention

But don't worry
, when displaying filmographies, the names are converted to the more common/clearer "First name Last Name" format (i.e. Cruise, Tom is shown as Tom Cruise).

Tom Cruise credit

There are some unusual situations in regard to name order particularly with regard to East Asian names. However, that doesn't appear to apply to you. I could be wrong, but it looks like your name should be entered as Deb, Priya Ranjan in the same way that James Earl Jones is entered as Jones, James Earl.

The only exception would be if you have a double last name. For example, Helena Bonham Carter is from the Bonham Carter family. Her surname is Bonham Carter and she is entered into IMDb as Bonham Carter, Helena.

I hope this helps.
