Answered

My IMDb credits have been assigned to someone else. How do I correct this?

My name is John McWhorter. I have recently gotten involved in the filmmaking community in Colorado. The projects that I have worked on since have been assigned to someone else of the same name. To avoid further confusion, I have decided to start using the name John Konrad for future projects. In the meantime, how can I get my current credits reassigned?

John: Here is the best way to handle this change.

Go to the John McWhorter page at https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1674641/ . Click "Edit page".

On the next screen, on the Name Split line, select "Add split". Click "Continue".

On the next screen, there will be lines for "Move Actor Credits to", "Move Self to", and "Move Production Department to".

On the Move Actor Credits to line, and the Move Production Department to line, in the left-hand drop down boxes, select "Other (use box)". For the Move Self to line, leave that box saying "Don't move [McWhorter, John]".

Then, on the Move Actor Credits to line, and the Move Production Department to line, in the right-hand boxes, enter Konrad, John (II) in the right-hand box on both of those lines. (The roman numeral (II) is needed because there is another John Konrad listed in IMDb; his last credit was in 1964.) Leave the right-hand box blank on the Move Self to line.

Also, for both the Move Actor Credits to line, and the Move Production Department to line, check the box marked "Update existing credits with 'as'".

In the Explanation box, enter something like this: "My name is John McWhorter, but I will in the future be credited as John Konrad instead. I have changed my professional name because my credits have been confused with another person named John McWhorter who is a professor with many Self credits. All the Actor and Production Department credits currently listed on the John McWhorter page are mine, not the professor's, and they should be split off to a separate page. I am a different person from the John Konrad who is already listed in the database." Click "Check these updates".

On the next screen, you will get a warning that says, "The name 'Konrad, John (II)' is not currently in the database. Did you mean one of these? ..." followed by a list of names.  In fact, you may get that same warning twice. Each time, make sure to select the option at the end of the list that says "This is a different person not currently listed - create 'Konrad, John (II)'." Click "Re-check these updates".

On the next screen, your data should appear with a green background, and you should be able to click "Submit these updates".

Allow a few days for the name split to be fully processed.

Good luck!

Excellent! Thank you so much. I'll check back in a few days to make sure it takes, but you've been a huge help.

John: Yes, there is a well-known professor named John McWhorter who has a lot of "Self" credits.

In order to help us advise you on how to move your credits to a new page under the name John Konrad, please go to the John McWhorter page at https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1674641/ and look at all the credits in every department -- Actor, Production Department, Self, and Archive Footage.

Please post here a list of all the credits from that page that are yours.

With that information, it will be easier to advise you how to proceed.

Thank you. I am the John credited in the 3 entries under actor: break for it, birthday bash, and seraphim. As well as the 2 production credits: dying to meet you, and eclipse(upcoming). Everything else belongs rightfully to Dr. John McWhorter.
