Multiple pages for series created and managed with inaccurate information

I work as a producer on a show that has multiple pages on IMDb. None of these pages were created or have been managed by our team. They contain inaccurate series and episode numbers, plot summaries with grammatical errors, and incorrect cast and crew credits. These pages are mostly contributed to by one user I have been unable to get in contact with, and internally we do not have the manpower to correct the credits of 100+ episodes of our series. Is there anything that can be done aside from replacing hundreds of credits individually?

Hi @willschwartzfilm,

Thank you for your problem report.

Could you please provide us with links to the affected title pages, so we can look into this issue for you?

Cheers!

Hi Ozzy,

Here are the primary pages we're having issue with. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt22410240/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_1_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_sam%2520and%2520colby

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt20737440/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_2_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_sam%2520and%2520colby

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt21608578/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_5_tt_7_nm_1_in_0_q_sam%2520and%2520colby%2520the

Our main problem is that the person who created these pages has assumed because we are primarily distributed on a YouTube channel that every video we've ever posted is an episode of our show, which is not the case. They have also divided those episodes into arbitrary seasons and in the case of some of our videos, stated that they are a part of an entirely different series, which is inaccurate. This person has, in some cases, used fan-made posters rather than official ones to distinguish the "shows" from each other. They've also given some crew members incorrect credits and created IMDb pages for our guests sometimes using only their first name.

The other secondary issue is that some of these episodes have been syndicated to Roku and Amazon Prime, which IMDb has an additional separate page: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt28224610/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_8_nm_0_in_0_q_sam%2520and%2520colby

While the incorrect release dates are the fault of the streamers, these episodes are identical in content to episodes listed on these other pages, but with very few credits, mis-matched titles, and inaccurate series and episode number distinction.

Our hope long-term is to align these so that all four pages accurately reflect the same singular series.

Hi @willschwartzfilm,

Thank you for the additional information.

Please refer to our Title formatting guidelines which will detail how your title should be listed on IMDb per its "title type". Based on what I can tell from the provided information above, and in adherence with the title formatting guidelines, your titles should be listed as either a TV series with episodes (as per the Online Channels type) or as an Online Standalone Video.

In regards to correcting any inaccurate data listed on IMDb, we advise you make these corrections yourself. As you are likely to know best which episodes belong to which title or as part of which "season", and wouldn't have to make best guesses as to the season/episode formatting. Additionally, you can report any fan-made images for removal, and correct any credits that aren't formatted correctly. Any duplicated episode data can also be reported for removal via the Contribution Form, but we recommend merging any unique, relevant and accurate data first before removing anything from the site.

We have further Help guides which provide instructions and tips for any relevant correction submissions you may need to make:

Thanks!

Thank you for the direction! For clarification, because I couldn't figure out exactly what occurs when two series are merged, what happens to the individual episodes from each title? Are all episodes from both pages included under one title and then I have to delete the duplicates? Or do episodes with the same season and episode number overwrite each other depending on which page I am merging into the other?

@willschwartzfilm Hi-

When merging series,

two series pages cannot be merged if episodes exist on both titles. If you wish to merge two series pages please submit a title merge on any associated episodes first, then, once these have been approved, please submit a merge on the parent series titles

Cheers!
