Mocap in filmography?

Hi,
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this suggestion, although I don't see anyone else asking about it. I was wondering why motion capture work is not listed in "filmography". I did some mocap and I had to list it under "stunts". I'm sure as mocap continues to grow in popularity that it will one day be moved entirely to "filmography", so I'm hoping to expedite the process if possible.

Any suggestions on who I can speak to about this? Or am I in the right forum to discuss it?

Thanks in advance,

Marc: This is the right forum to discuss this question.

From IMDb's perspective, a "filmography" consists of all the kinds of credits that are eligible for listing in IMDb -- acting, directing, writing, producing, editing, stunts, and all the other departments.

However, not all occupations have "departments" of their own on IMDb. For example, there are over 30,000 choreographer credits listed on IMDb, but they aren't listed in a separate Choreographers department.

From past discussions on this board, I understand that it's a major undertaking for IMDb to establish a new department under which to categorize credits, and new departments are established only rarely. If a job doesn't fit into any other department, it can be listed under Miscellaneous Crew (sometimes known as Other Crew). Credits in Miscellaneous Crew are still fully a part of a person's IMDb filmography even though they don't have departments of their own.

From what I can find, many motion capture-related credits are currently listed under Miscellaneous Crew. See http://www.imdb.com/updates/field/miscellaneous/job?M for a list of Miscellaneous Crew jobs that begin with the letter "M" and how many credits are currently listed for each such job.

Hi Gromit, I apologize... I meant "Actor" filmography. If an actor plays a character through mocap, but doesn't speak, then it's not listed under "Actor".

If I do a voice, then it gets put into "Actor" filmography. That doesn't make sense to me, and (I may be wrong) I'm assuming it will be changed eventually. So I'm trying to get that ball rolling.

What are your thoughts?

I was just going to ask this question as Friday the 13th video game credits have Kane Hodder listed as playing Jason but he didn't provide his voice (as he is a silent character) so shouldn't there be like a (Mocap) credit or a (voice & Mocap) credit available.

Hey everyone! Just checking in on this request! I am a mocap performer for a upcoming film, but unsure how to log that credit. Thank you!
