MAKE THE UNIT PUBLICIST AN IMDB JOB CATEGORY (NOT 'ADDITONAL CREW')

I propose IMDB adjusts their site to include the Unit Publicist as a specific job category instead of their existing sub-category of 'Additional Crew'.

The Unit publicist has been a key part of the filmmaking process from the beginning of the industry, working closely with studios, networks, press, cast, producers, directors, behind-the-scenes crews, stills photographers and every other crew member on set.

A Unit Publicist is freelancer who starts a project in pre-production, is on set daily and doesn’t finish the job until post-production. They are union members in North America and responsible for creating all materials used to promote the project domestically and internationally.

Unit Publicists have earned their credit and IMDB’s system should reflect that.

For more information on the role of a Unit Publicist, go to https://www.iatse667.com/en/publicists/ or

https://www.icg600.com/MY600/Publicists-Corner and check out the brochure and video including Ron Howard's charming description of the role of a Unit Publicist.

Thank you for considering this proposal.

I fully support this request to include the Unit Publicist as a specific job category. The Unit Publicist in an integral part of the production team and should be properly recognized for the special skills and contributions they bring to each project.

Great suggestion - and long overdue! The Unit Publicist is a key player in the positioning of the project.

I'm an advocate for IMDb to include the Unit Publicist as a specific job category. The Unit Publicist is a highly specialized role within the production team and should be properly designated in IMDb's crew listings. Unit Publicists have earned their credit and IMDB’s system should reflect that rather than lumping in with "additional crew."

Unit Publicists and Script Supervisors deserve separate categories on IMDB.

Unit Publicist and Script Supervisor are unique positions and should have their own category on IMDB.

This has long been a bone of contention not having Unit Publicist recognized
as its own designated job.  Our contribution has always been one of key
importance from a project's humble beginnings through distribution by both
supporting the needs of the studio marketing department as well as securing
key publicity to help position the project from production through release.  As the industry has evolved, so has our job with studios and networks leaning very, very heavily on the Unit Publicist to help collect a much broader range of marketing materials needed to distinguish the title in a very crowded consumer marketing field.  IMDB, give Unit Publicists the respect we have earned and designate our job as a standalone crew member.

Thanks for the proposal and I am definitely in agreement that the Unit Publicist should have their own designated job category.

This is long overdue recognition of the unit publicist who functions almost as a department of one, and creates materials that releasing companies use to attract an audience.  Without this position and without publicity, movies open in a vacuum.

There is no question there should be separate job category for these credits.

As a long time member of the IMDB community and a 25 year member of IATSE667, I strongly agree with this change in job category for our Unit Publicist crew members.

These important members of production deserve recognition. Let's have this category for them on IMDB.
