live action/CGI hybrids are NOT "animation"!
There are far too many Live-action/CGI hybrid films on IMDB that are incorrectly labelled as animated.
(2021/2022 examples: Disenchanted, Lyle Lyle Crocodile, Tom and Jerry 2021).
To quote Wikipedia:
"An animated feature is defined by [the Academy Awards] as a film with a running time of more than 40 minutes in which characters' performances are created using a frame-by-frame technique, a significant number of the major characters are animated, and animation figures in no less than 75 percent of the running time."
I feel very frustrated by this because the only films that should be in the "animation" genre are films that precisely match the Wikipedia criteria for animation, like Shrek, Netflix/Del Toro's Pinocchio, Surf's Up, Toy Story, Wolfwalkers, Wendell and Wild, Mary and the Witch's Flower, Howl's Moving Castle, Your Name, Summer Wars, Nausicaa, The Owls of Ga'Hoole, Despicable Me, The Secret of NIMH, Titan AE, Help I'm a Fish, and thousands of others.
Live-Action Films that have more live-action characters than animated/CGI ones SHOULD NOT COUNT.
HOWEVER, I believe that films combining live-action and hand-drawn animation should still be labelled as "animated", because the animated characters in those films still look "animated", whilst films combining live action with CGI are mainly designed so that the CGI character(s) blend in near-seamlessly with live-action human actors and natural lighting.
Can anyone else help me out here?

IMDb's guidelines also cite the 75% rule: "Over 75% of the title's running time should have scenes that are wholly, or part-animated." But they don't mention the number of animated characters.
The Wikipedia/Academy citation doesn't really support your distinction between handdrawn and computer-generated.
IMDb's guideline does say, "Please note that motion capture elements within 'real-world' films such as Paddington are not eligible for this genre." This may exclude Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile.

A film can have several genres. I’m pretty sure that the new T&J should (also) have animation genre included. It doesn’t say anywhere in IMDb that the film is ”only” animation.

Sorry. I know a film can have multiple genres, but I was saying that there should be a separate genre for films combining live-action characters and animated ones. I personally prefer to refer to this genre as "hybrid" or "mixed media". That way we can differentiate hybrid movies from fully-animated ones. Sorry i sounded so harsh on the original post.
