Language

I suggested an edit to a parents’ guide entry for language - #230225-010935-809604 - but my edit was rejected. I believe my suggestion contained every contentious word mentioned in the original, simply removing pretentious waffle where the user tried to lecture everyone else about why we might be too stupid to realise the language was offensive without their help. There are problems with this: 1) If we need to be told language is offensive, was it actually offensive? 2) The poster assumes they are representative of all viewers. People in Jamaica are able to access IMDb. It us not for one person to decide who will use the site, and tailor comments accordingly. 3) Long, rambling entries risk losing the user along the way - compounded in this case by the fact the writer never actually addresses the language despite six lines of verbiage around it. 4) The supercilious nature of the post is an insult to site users. …. but I will be happy to hear why you prefer the original entry, that doesn’t actually meet the purpose of a parents’ guide, overbmine, which does, and in a fraction if the space.
