It's A Wonderful Life: Actor who played Mickey

IMDB, as well as some other sites like Wikipedia, etc., lists an actor by the name of Mark Roberts (aka Bob Scott) as the actor who plays Mickey, the mischievous consoler of Freddie Othello (Carl Switzer of "Alfalfa" fame). However if you look at any photo of Mark Roberts, it is clear as day this isn't the same actor - I don't care how many times you tell me it's him. Some of you might disagree and well, that's that. But for those of you do agree this obviously isn't the same guy - the question is: Who is he? We may never know....but all I do know is Mark Roberts is not the actor who played Mickey.

Photos below for comparison. Top row: Mark Roberts. Bottom row: Mystery actor.

Artificial intelligence agrees with you:

Let's compare his confirmed pictures:

Thank you for providing that info. Unfortunately there are only side or angle shots of the mystery actor, nothing directly front-faced to compare. But I think your analysis also confirms he definitely isn't the same person.

@zrrifle I also compared some more images from a movie of his with same year (Gilda - 1946)

All results still said "two faces belong to different people"

It's also not mentioned on his obit: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/latimes/name/robert-scott-obituary?id=26160823

I think such a high profile movie would definitely be mentioned on his obit if he was in it.

@mbmb  interesting - makes me wonder how and when Roberts mistakenly got confused with this unknown actor when they have very little or no resemblance to each other. Besides IMDB and Wikipedia, he's also erroneously credited for the role on these sites:

Mark Roberts (movie-dude.com)

Favorite Side Characters From IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE ⋆ Atomic Junk Shop

And several other sites I won't list. Unfortunately I don't think I've noticed this mystery actor in any other movie.

@zrrifle Getting closer, credit was originally on a seperate name page under name "Bobby Scott": https://web.archive.org/web/20050108015656/http://imdb.com:80/name/nm0778898/

Current situation might a result of a bad name merge.

I believe you're right - the "real" Bob Scott (mystery actor we're talking about) must have gotten confused with Mark Roberts who also used that name for a while. I think you clinched it though using that archived IMDB page. Based on that info, he only starred in 2 movies -  the second one being "The Blonde Bandit" where he played a bit part as an airplane mechanic. Fortunately I found a copy of it here on Youtube, albeit bad quality. But I have no doubt it's him:

A couple of screen shots from his short scenes near the end:

So, Bob or "Bobby" Scott had bit parts in at least 2 movies, both uncredited...and one of them is one of the most popular and famous movies of all time! Thanks again - without your help I don't think I would have ever found any of this out! At least that mystery was put to rest.
Sad thing is the wrong actor (Mark Roberts) got credit for the work the 'real' Bob Scott did, even if it was small.

@zrrifle I was just looking to find his scene in that movie, you are fast :)

Looking at that archived page, it looks like someone even added a 1978 date of death details, likely tried to prevent an incorrect name merge with it, but still didn't help :)

Let's see if a staff member can undo the merge.

And artificial intelligence agrees with you on this too :)

You can also compare people's ears for the purposes of ruling out any possibility of equivalence.

Hi All -

Thanks for such a thorough investigation and observations! The two credits have now been moved to a new name page listing under "Bobby Scott (XII)".

Cheers!

@Michelle Thank you for fixing that - and a big thanks to mbmb for providing the AI to back it up!

I am happy to see this corrected. Bobby (Robert) Scott was my uncle. It was a family tradition to watch the movie or at least him and Alfalfa in the pool scene. Here is some info on him to help fill in the mystery.https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/bakersfield/name/robert-scott-obituary?id=25452024.  My father and his siblings did a lot of ads and bit parts while growing up in Hollywood, mostly uncredited.

Thank you for sharing that, and also for the link. So little information is available on him, just the obit reveals so much about him that we would never know otherwise. I'm glad he lived a good long and apparently successful life!

Thank you again for sharing about your uncle.
