It is very important that Tyler Gallant be listed first on my movie because he's the star like Jack Nicholson was the star of Chinatown

This concerns Joe Haladin: The Case of the Missing Sister. There are 50 scenes in the movie, and Tyler Gallant, who plays Joe Haladin, is in 45 of them. He simply must be listed first.

Buda: This film (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt16231782/) is still listed as being in pre-production. Cast order numbers are not used for films that are still in pre-production; see the guide here:

https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/how-are-cast-credits-ordered-why-don-t-the-main-stars-appear-at-the-top-of-the-cast/G39K5N4YYV2QJ4GR

Once the film has gone into production, you can update the film's status and then submit cast order numbers for the actors.

Please make sure that when the on-screen cast credits are actually prepared, that Tyler Gallant is indeed listed first in the most complete cast listing (which is usually the one in the end credits). Once the film has been released, IMDb will follow the order listing in the on-screen credits to determine the cast order.

I hope this helps.

@gromit82  No, you don't understand. I had Tyler Gallant listed first. Then, it took them weeks to add the second star, Rachelle Brooke Smith. Finally, they did, and they put her first. But, all along I told them that Tyler is the central character. So, all they had to do was put her second. For them not to fix this is ridiculous. I mean: why not? It could be fixed in much less time than we could talk about it. He goes first, and she goes next. What is the big deal? This is not climbing Mt. Everest.

Buda: See https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/how-are-cast-credits-ordered-why-don-t-the-main-stars-appear-at-the-top-of-the-cast/G39K5N4YYV2QJ4GR# which I linked in my initial response. It says:

At this time, In-Development or Pre-Production titles are ineligible for cast ordering and the option will be unavailable. For instructions on how to update the titles Production Status - please see the following guide. Once this has been approved and is live, you'll be able to submit cast ordering corrections.

Your film is listed as being in Pre-Production status (see https://pro.imdb.com/title/tt16231782/details) and so your intended cast order is irrelevant for now. For all films in Pre-Production status, my understanding is that the cast is listed in StarMeter order. Only after your movie starts filming can the film be listed as in Filming status, at which time the Cast order can be submitted. At this point, while the film is in Pre-Production status, it's impossible even to submit Cast order numbers to IMDb, much less have them taken into account.

@gromit82  They already did. Before it listed, Tyler Gallant, Cole Spriner, and Laci Mercede. I complained, and they changed it to Tyler Gallant, Jeff Caperton and Carlton Caudle. I explained to them that Cole and Laci each have just one scene in the movie. And in response to that, they changed it to the other. With Rachele, the problem was that for many weeks, they just weren't adding her. Finally, after repeated requests and posting here about it, they did. Now, they need to swap the order and put Tyler first. I got them to respond before, so that means it's possible. And hopefully, they will do it again and get it right. I can't announce the page until they do.

@Budafilmmaker If you have a way to submit cast order numbers to your film while it is still in pre-production, please post it here. I don't know how to do that, and I think some of the other contributors here would like to know how too.

I wanted to test this for myself, but I found that there was no box to submit the cast order number because the film is in pre-production.

Hi, gromit:

a way to submit cast order numbers [...] while it is still in pre-production

As far as I know, you can only achieve this from the name page.

But, of course, only one name could be updated in each submission, and thus filling in the order of the entire cast can be very tedious.

@gromit82   You're right that you can't do it yourself when it's in pre-production. But, if you request that they do it, you may get someone who will.  It's easy enough for them to do.

Thank you, ljdoncel. How did you do that? Where do I have to go?

You need to make the correction not from the title page, but from the actor's name page, in this case Tyler's name page (see my screenshot above).

OK, I did it just that way, and it did go through. So, I hope it works, and thank you.
