ISBN-10 vs. ISBN-13

When entering a title for “Books About This Person” under biographical information, the book’s International Standard Book Number (ISBN) can be entered. ISBNs started out as 10-digit numbers, but in 2007 the official ISBN was expanded to 13 digits (for most books in English, the first 3 digits are now 978). A problem arises because, although both 10- and 13-digit numbers appear to be hyperlinked when displayed on a person’s Publicity page, clicking on a 13-digit number does not go to the book’s Amazon page, but to a page that says “Sorry, we couldn’t find that page” (e.g., https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/9780060773342/internetmoviedat/). Only a 10-digit ISBN will work. I don’t know how difficult it would be to make the ISBN box accommodate both ISBN versions, but until it does, you should add something like the following to the Help Center Guide for https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/names-biographical-data/biographical-data-guidelines/GMT9T242VQADZUQM#books /Biographical Books: “Enter only 10-digit ISBNs. 13-digit numbers will not link to the book’s Amazon page. If only a 13-digit ISBN is listed with a book’s bibliographic information, search Amazon.com for the title; both 13- and 10-digit numbers will be listed.”
