Is there an option to include more reason to a declined contribution?

New to contributing here and was once told it's easy to add to imdb and hard to try to correct/fix mistakes. With that knowledge, I've been trying to read rules and follow to the best of my ability so I can avoid the process of removing mistakes.

I understand there may be a high volume of contributions in the queue, but I’ve had several submissions declined and, even after resubmitting with additional information, they were not accepted.

I think it would be very helpful if there were an option to provide more specific feedback beyond “Unable to verify” or “More Evidence Required.” Additional insight into the reason for a decline would help contributors like myself better understand what types of sources are needed, especially for corrections that are more difficult to verify with the lack of suitable evidence currently available to prove the edit.

This would also save time, as it would allow contributors to better target their search and avoid repeated unsuccessful submissions. If there is already guidance available on the site, I would love being directed to it so I can avoid spending time on edits that I know are incorrect but lack imdb standard supporting evidence.

If a contribution is declined you can take the contribution reference number and place it here https://imgur.com/a/sfquwqy Click load. Then click Add evidence. If you have a screen capture https://imgur.com is very helpful. Then you can resubmit.

@ben_hampel Thank you! I recently started to add screen captures as a source of evidence. Would you happen to know if certain evidences would be more helpful than others in reducing the declined contribution? In across my edits, I've tried to included a mix of screen captures, links to show's social media, links to actor/actress posting about show/film, production social media post on stills, links to streaming site, official posters, etc. and even those gets denied so I'm just quite confused on what would be a valid evidence vs not.

Hard to say. Depends on what info you're are trying to add. I know Wikipedia is not allowed as a source. It's a case by case thing. Sorry I can't be more specific.

@snow_fall- Thank you for reporting! We appreciate the feedback and we'll pass it along to the respective team!

As per the contributions and just as @ben_hampel explained above, if you have examples and can post the 18-digit submission reference numbers, we can help take a further look into them.

@Maya Thank you! I would just like to feel like my time isn't wasted, but I'd love to help add/edit for more complete data as well.

I also have a lot of issues with editing actors with the same name being incorrectly credited to a show. For example, I encountered a page where three actors with the same name were linked to a show, but none of them appeared in it - the role belongs to a different actor with the same name who is not currently linked. I attempted to remove the incorrect entries, but the edit was denied. Most likely due to lack of evidence to support it and I’m unclear what would qualify as evidence.

Similarly, I tried to correct credits where a character was listed for the full series despite only appearing in select episodes, but those edits were also denied. I think for these earlier declined edits of mine, I provided a link to episode and timestamps. Based on this thread, I'm assuming if I go back and provide screen capture of opening credits, it would be approved.

In submission #260324-000422-034000, I included multiple sources: official network site screen capture, the show’s social medias, actress post, etc., and additional secondary wiki-like sources for cross-checking (if needed) because the information is a bit scattered - yet it was still declined.
