Solved

Is it possible to change trailer thumbnail to a promo still because of low quality?

It is an older show so the trailer on the imdb is quite low quality and even if you change the timestamp of the thumbnail the result wouldn't be great. Can I request to change it to a specific still image in higher quality? It is for this show tt0118421

Hi Adam1234-

The thumbnails can only be grabbed from the main trailer. In this case, it will have to be one within an specific timestamp.

Cheers!

@Maya hmm interesting. Is it different for newer shows? Because a lot of newer titles have a promo still which is much higher quality than the trailer. Also, I've looked through the trailer for the title I posted and the thumbnail isn't even in the trailer, it's just a low quality image from somewhere else.

@Adam1234 - Can you post a link to one of the newer titles you are referring to?

here is one, a new season just came out for this show. You'll see the aspect ratio and the watermark from the trailer aren't there and if you reverse search the thumbnail, it's a promotional still image and not a screenshot from the show or trailer itself.

@Adam1234 - Thank you for providing the example! In certain cases, thumbnails for featured videos may be manually applied by our Editorial team which is why they might differ from others.

@Maya oh ok, so is there no chance of updating it for this specific show? All the trailers came out in the 90s or early 2000s so the thumbnails are very low quality

@Adam1234 - Correct, they can only be from the current main trailer displaying on them.

@Maya hi, Maya. Sorry to bother you but I posted a high quality still image (#260420-010828-972102) and it was declined because it was the same as somebody else has posted because this is a new episode. The only thing is the one that got approved is much lower in quality and I think it might even be a screenshot. Would you be able to approve the image or do I have to submit it again?

@Adam1234 - Hi,

Taking a look, the image was approved but the title link was declined. The title link has been added.

@Maya thanks. The exact message I got was :

"The item you have submitted is exactly the same as a submission that you or another user have already entered, which is still pending review by our staff."

Do you know when the image will be added?

@Maya hi, sorry for bothering you again but I want to reach out before the same thing happens here. A friend at HBO went through the trouble of finding this lost image for me in high quality. I uploaded it and cropped it a little so it could fit the thumbnail but have now realised that I cropped it too much at the top of the image. I've submitted a new uncropped version but I think it will be declined due to it being "the same image" as the cropped version.

the title link hasn't. That's what will most likely get declined.

@Maya Hi, I don't want to make a whole thread since this could be resolved very quickly. I uploaded a poster (#260501-153322-120019) for this show in high quality and it was declined. If you need to verify that the poster is authentic you can just look at the primary title image poster for the show. It's the exact same one but mine is higher quality and isn't badly cropped.

I've submitted it again because usually if you approve something after it get's declined, it never gets added from my experience. So could you approve this new one and replace it with the primary image because the current one is cropped badly and low quality?

Hello Adam1234,

The submission was already approved, the image is pending for the title link and will be processed soon. The live Poster is good quality was provided by Presskit, therefore it won't be removed.

@Fran no, what I'm saying is I submitted it yesterday and it was declined today so I submitted another one which I think will be declined again for no real reason.

@Fran  the title link has been declined, it's not a matter of it not being approved.

It is not going to be approved in the future as I've dealt with this before. Could you approve this one before it is declined again for no reason at all, please? #260502-171914-373519

@Fran okay thanks but I'm saying there is a high likelihood that the title link will be declined for no reason again, that's why I came here
