INTRODUCING: Updates to Name Updates

INTRODUCING: Updates to Name Updates

Image

We’re excited to announce that we have separated the experience for name correction and name merges. We identified this as a common cause for confusion as per the feedback to us. We hope this change is helpful.

For further details on how to contribute, please see our Names help article

Thanks as always for all your feedback – please feel free to post your questions and comments to this thread.

The Names article could probably use an update: Under Name Corrections it says, "Name corrections can be used to combine entries for a single person that appear under two or more different names ..."

@Peter_pbn Thanks for flagging as always - should be updated now.

@Taylor

Oh, I think the final paragraph in the Name Correction section is part of the same point: it says, "You will see a warning that you are combining two names ..."

Hello, I'm trying to adjust my IMDBpro Name to reflect my full birth name and I am not seeing "Name correction" anywhere. I only see "Name Split" and "Birth Name." My full name will be used on all future credits so I need to my account name to reflect that. What can I do to fix this asap because I have searching for "name correction" everywhere? Thank you!

@cathryndylanortiz Thanks for the report - I've shared this with our engineering team to further investigate. In the meantime, please use the following link: https://contribute.imdb.com/updates?update=nm5074497 as a work-around.

@Taylor hi taylor, one more question. My legal name is Cathryn Dylan Ortiz on my birth certificate but on IMDBpro/all over the internet it is written as Cathryn Dylan Benz. The Benz wasn't added on to the original name until way later and even still the two were hyphenated. I've provided documentation, ect to show what was accurate but nothing has changed. Is there something you can do? Thank you!
