Intimacy Department Catagory

Hey y'all,

Writing to bring up the position of Intimacy Coordinators and how the position fits into the framework of IMDB.

As an IC myself, I can speak to the fact that this is a very new position on set, only showing up in the last 4 years or so in Film and TV, but is a burgeoning field, and showing up on more and more sets.  HBO requires them on any set involving simulated sex or nudity, and it's only a matter of time before other studios follow suit.  The position is also on the path to unionizing with SAG.

All this to say, I believe now would be a good time to figure out where they might fit into the existing framework of IMDB credits, because right now "Additional Crew" is where they're ending up.

Intimacy Coordinating is its own department, and the work of an IC is most analogous to that of Stunt Coordinators.  Stunts is a category in and of itself within the framework of IMDB, so maybe that's the way to go?

Best to do it now before exponentially more and more IC credits start popping up on IMDB that will need to be recategorized like the Production credits did.

Thanks so much!

Hi Everyone! I’m excited to share that we've just launched 12 new credit categories on IMDb, including dedicated sections for Intimacy Coordinator, Choreography, Color Department, Voice Actor - Dubbing, and more! You can now contribute credits under these categories and they are now displayed under dedicated section headings across IMDb, IMDbPro web, and apps. For complete details about these changes, please see our New Credit Categories and Professions announcement post here: https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/imdbcom/introducing-new-credit-categories-and-professions/690a2e48297bb2308a6501e9 We welcome your questions and feedback there!
