Solved

Incorrect "Russian" genre tag automatically added to my title "Hilberton"

Hello community and IMDb staff,

I need assistance with a persistent issue regarding my sci-fi series "Hilberton" (ID: tt42177069).

On the title page, the word "Russian" is incorrectly displayed in the main Genre/Header section. I have checked the 'Edit Page' menu, and this word is not listed under Genres or Keywords, which means I cannot delete it manually.

This tag is highly misleading for the audience. The production is managed by our independent holding CosmicShock, and the project has an American cultural context, being cosmopolitan in nature and aimed at the US and international markets.

The "Russian" tag refers solely to the geographical location of some production stages, absolutely not the creative genre, tone, or cultural context. Since IMDb doesn't use "American" or "British" as genres, having "Russian" listed there is confusing and inconsistent.

I sent requests to the support team 10 days ago but haven't received a resolution. Could an IMDb representative please manually remove this tag from the header of the title to properly reflect the project's global positioning?

Thank you in advance!

Please see -> https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/interests/G4Q8HQTQJ6YZ7H7B  and particularly the section on the new language interests. Here “Russian” applies to the language of the title, not any cultural reference or filming location (https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/titles/interests/G4Q8HQTQJ6YZ7H7B?ref_=helpsrall#languageinterests)

Hope this helps.

Dear Col Needham,

Thank you so much for the personal reply and the clarification. It is a tremendous honor to hear directly from you — the creator of the platform that shaped the modern film industry.

I completely understand the algorithmic nature of the new language requirements now. My initial concern was driven by the fact that Hilberton is developed as a massive, multi-season global Sci-Fi project, and I worried that automated language tags might create a misleading regional perception for the international audience. However, since this is strictly a technical metadata requirement, the logic is clear.

Thank you again for your time, your guidance, and for building such an indispensable universe for filmmakers.

Best regards,

Alex
