IMDBs Contribution method is unwieldy and unusable. There is literally no mechanism to do a simple task.
I have been trying to submit changes to my own IMDB account for months. IMDBs response is pathetic.
The issue: My client's uncle and my client have the same name (with different middle initials). They both have had long careers in the industry in the same job. BOTH of their credits are commingled on my client's page. The uncle's information with my client's name (his middle initial). At first I simply told IMDB that the two titles were intermingled (they listed his date of death as 1995 but my client's credits well into the 2000s). Through my IMDBPro account I gave them a list of which were my client's credits and which were his uncles. I spent probably two hours putting it together. It was simply dismissed.
Then, through my client's IMDBpro account I submitted a change explaining, once again, that the two accounts were intermingled. That his uncle could not possibly have done those films as they listed the date of his death well before those films. I just need them to create a page for him so that I can start moving his credits over to it. Here was the totality of the response from IMDB. THEY REMOVED HIS DEATH DATE. Seriously. That was it. THAT was their big takeway.
The mechanism to make changes to IMDB accounts are so bloated that they are practically unusable for anything outside of a narrow band of issues. I also particularly love how if you want to "send them" feedback you have to do it through a "3rd party" portal. When looking for answers it seems that they essentially give you the keys to the warehouse from Indiana Jones and say "your answer is probably in there somewhere."

correction: I said "I have been trying to submit changes to my own IMDB account for months" when I meant to say "my client's account." Although I have tried to submit changes from both my pro account and his with similar outcomes.

Kbedford: The contributors here may be able to advise you (or, if not, the IMDb staff will have to intervene).
Please post your last full data submission here on this message board. You can copy it out of the receipt you would have received from IMDb by e-mail immediately after sending it in. That should include the names of the people involved and which credits need to be re-assigned.
Some of the regulars on the board may review the submission and, if they can, they may provide suggestions as to how to improve the submission to get it included in the database. (Also, please include the submission reference number -- it's an 18-digit number that will look something like 230123-123456-789000.) If your submission included an explanation, it will not have appeared in the e-mailed receipt but you should be able to find it in your submission history at https://contribute.imdb.com/updates/history/ -- please post that too.
