IMDB review monitoring system

So, here is a Indian Bollywood movie SherShaah(https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10295212/) which has outstanding reviews and rating. The rating compelled me to watch this movie. And after watching the movie, even a novice movie goer would know this is a no-good movie. So how the great reviews then?

A careful review on the reviews reveals that this are bot generated: obvious give away is the username pattern username-xxxxx and the date of user creation. I feel that this a sinister plot by a political group in India to intensify nationalist agenda which the movie greatly portrays. Which Im sure is not what Imdb encourages.

But the concern is how did come Imdb missed this false bot generated flood of reviews? Isn't there any logic to review anomalies(50K rating in 5 days, 8.8 rating in 3 days etc.) and bot reviews? Is it this easy to fool a rating system?

Hi m2r007 -

Our voting system already detects and defeats attempts to stuff the ballot and skew the rating, as demonstrated by the difference between the weighted average and the arithmetic mean on the vast majority of titles in the database.

Our voting system is continually improved in this respect so you can rest assured that abuse is always automatically detected and thwarted.  In the meantime, for more information on IMDb ratings I encourage you to review our Ratings FAQ.

You might want to vote for this Idea. It would have significantly cut down on the number of silly reviews this title lists: https://community-imdb.sprinklr.com/conversations/data-issues-policy-discussions/make-sure-reviews-are-reviews-again-minimum-of-50-words-instead-of-50-characters/5f4a7b3e8815453dbacfe95a
