IMDB is not solving an issue

So this is a peculiar issue. I was part of a project that got shelved and never completed. Somehow it shows on IMDB and some internet websites that the movie was released when its not. What this is doing is harming the producer/director's next project. When he is trying to meet distributors and partners, they see this movie online and think that this is his first project and are asking to see this movie when he does not have a movie to show as it was never completed. They think he does not want to show them the movie when its not the case. I have a signed letter from the makers of this project saying this movie was shelved. IMDB support has been extremely unhelpful and they don't even want to investigate this. What to do now?

Maybe it is up to the studio/filmmaker to confirm that the project is abandoned and will never ever be completed. Of course, there is a possibility that the IMDb data editors may react by changing the production status to "abandoned" rather than deleting the IMDb title page. They can indeed to the former if they would like, but hopefully instead they become cooperative with the studio/filmmaker, based on the concerns presented in the OP of this thread.
