IMDB has deleted my credits?! Some Credits are more than a year old ???. HELP PLEASE!

I logged into my IMDB Pro account to update some information and noticed that 4 different film credits have been deleted. Including my producing and writing credits.  Why? A few of them are more than a year old. It's very frustrating when you are submitting when half of your work is missing. PLEASE HELP!

I had this happen to me a few times... I kept re-submitting them, and after a while, they 'stuck' lol

This is ridiculous! Why are they even being deleted? I'll keep submitting them. I have evidence of me being on the film/credits etc.... So hopefully they can correct fast!

I read about your problem, I feel so bad for you :(

Thanks, I guess they don't police things often...

As for your problem... I saw these posts, maybe they could help in some way:

Some have official reps replying - so maybe you can contact them directly.

Best of luck to you :)

Simply re-submitting over and over usually does not fix a problem.

What credits are missing?

Can you post the submission Reference Numbers from your most recent submission and if you can, upload screen shots of your name in the credits. Then staff can look into the issue and you don't have to waste time re-submitting the same rejected or corrected items and staff doesn't have to keep looking at them. Proof usually helps.  You say you have some, did you give it to staff? Just having it doesn't help much...

Hi,

I am missing 4 different film credits. I went to change my 'character role' in Fifty Shades of Black and then the following day the remaining credits were deleted.

1. Fifty Shades of Black- (uncredited) (on screen)
2. Other People
3. TED 2-  uncredited (on screen)
4. Nocturnal Animals- (Post Production)

Here are my submission reference numbers:
#160209154637273000

What does "(uncredited) (on screen)" mean?

From the screen shots you posted, I don't see the "(uncredited)" attribute. If it's uncredited, did you add that?  If not, that's why it was removed.

Do you have, can you get, screen shots of your name appearing on screen, for the credited work, and/or a screen shot of your face on screen, clear and recognizable, for the uncredited work?

It seems you just resubmitted them, again...did you add any proof...it seems to be that they are not finding a way to verify the submissions. I'd recommend adding proof. There is no status for them to check on these new submissions yet as they're waiting in queue for processing. But if you have screen shots to add, staff here can attach them for you at this point so the page editor has it during processing. It can make it go through directly.

I was on screen in Fifty Shades of black and credited:

I was on screen for TED 2 but not credited.  Thats why it's uncredited.

I was credited for Other People:

As far as Nocturnal Animals,  is in post production. As far as now, I am credited. IMDB approved it. However, it could change once it's released.

So why are my credits being removed when they have been APPROVED by IMDB and/or are credited?!

By screen shots, I mean of your name appearing on screen in the credit list on the film itself.

Also, IMDb's definitions:

1.  Credited = Name appears in the on screen credits for a film/show.
2.  Uncredited = Name does not appear in the on screen credits.

I was on screen in Fifty Shades of black and credited:
Above you typed (copied/pasted): "1. Fifty Shades of Black- (uncredited) (on screen)."

Did your name appear in the on screen credit roll when you watch the film?

And when you typed "(uncredited) (on screen)," did you add that wording in your submission?  It's confusing and ambiguous.

You said you changed the character name...why was that necessary? How did the credit appear on screen? "Elevator CEO woman" seems awkwardly noted...is that how it appeared on screen?  The change might have caused them to check the on screen credits for verification and they might not have seen your name listed.  A screen shot of your name in the cast list from the film's credits roll would help get it accurately listed.

I was on screen for TED 2 but not credited.  Thats why it's uncredited.
Can you get a screen shot of your face appearing, easily recognizable, on screen in the film?  It's available on DVD, streaming on Amazon, etc., and should be easy to get.

I was credited for Other People
Can you get a screen capture of your name appearing in the credits of the film?

As far as Nocturnal Animals,  is in post production. As far as now, I am credited
Can you provide documentation, like call sheets, that shows you've worked on the film?

If production supplied a list of credited cast to IMDb and your name was not on it, that could be why it would be removed.  So, evidence will help them verify that you worked it.

So why are my credits being removed when they have been APPROVED by IMDB and/or are credited?!
I don't know...I am just trying to help you get the titles listed.  I am just a user and don't know what staff did.  It is, however, common for them to take someone at their word and list work.  It can, as you mentioned above, change and the entries can be corrected or removed.  I wouldn't dwell on what used to be on the site and work on the actual problem which is getting the items listed if they are accurate and eligible for listing.

Just because something used to be there, doesn't mean it should be restored.  Deletions of credits are actually difficult to get and are not done without a reason.  So, pointing out that its been removed is not of much value.  The assumption would be that they had good cause because otherwise they really, really don't like to remove data.  Their goal is to list it all (all credited work, that is-uncredited work is more an exception to the rule) but it needs to be accurate otherwise, who'd use the site?

Sorry, but this isn't really a good advice. It's just common sense that if the submission is "rejected", it's best to add some additional and/or more accurate information before submitting it again. If you can't get at a nice restaurant with your sneakers, it's better to change your shoes before trying again. On a serious note, screen caps and e.g. Youtube-links (and such) are always good and they can be added to the submission (Other Corrections => Miscellaneous Comments).

Why were they rejected after they were approved?

I'm grabbing screen shots now. It's just hard when only 1 out of the 4 movies have been released.

I can provide call sheets, confirmed emails, pay stubs. ( I really don't feel comfortable having that private info post here, is there a way I can send it privately?) I can have Tony Hobbs vouch for me, since he hired me for 2 of the movies. I mean come on... do I have to worry about my other credits being deleted in the future also?

Why were they rejected after they were approved?
I can't understand why that would matter...but I addressed it above.  I would assume that there was some concern for accuracy and that staff had trouble verifying the data and removed it (or actually saw that the on screen credits did not include your name and the entry was not listed "uncredited" or submitted with a screen capture of your face, clearly recognizable on screen, or other documentation, and deleted it.

I can provide call sheets, confirmed emails, pay stubs. ( I really don't feel comfortable having that private info post here, is there a way I can send it privately?
Posting a call sheet should not be a problem. Also, documents can be posted here with personal information (dollar amounts, email addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, real addresses, etc.) can be blacked out first.

Otherwise, you can scan or photograph the documents and then put them somewhere you can obtain a link to them. I use dropbox.com and it is very easy. You can put the image in your dropbox, right-click and grab a link, then paste it.

In general, you can provide the link in a submission. For adding a credit, you can add a "miscellaneous comment" and put the link there for staff to use the documentation to verify. If a correction, there would be an "explanation" field available to place the link.

I would not recommend re-submitting it now just to add the link.  Instead, use the Data Verification Form at http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/data_verification. This normally would be your last choice and will take the longest.  Posting images here would be easiest/fastest.

I can have Tony Hobbs vouch for me
This would usually not help. Other evidence (especially your name appearing on screen) is more helpful.

Staff usually doesn't take third party "vouching."  Besides, the guy hiring you probably didn't control what showed up in the on screen credits...now if someone can attached can supply such a screen shot for you that you can post here...that'd help greatly.

do I have to worry about my other credits being deleted in the future also?
Well...anything can happen, I guess.

But if they are accurate, and have already been verified, it's not likely.  Again, IMDb really, really doesn't like to remove data...the purpose of the site is to add until it's complete and accurate.

I'd make sure you're submitting properly and not flooding them with multiple requests of unverifiable and/or inaccurate data or else your account might end up getting flagged to have submissions include more and more evidence and/or having them ignored outright.  So, as Eboy said, above, in reference to the bad advice you'd been given, you should not keep submitting to see what sticks.  Do it once and do it well, then your account gets status of being an accurate submitter of data and you'll find submissions will go though with less documentation needed.

I'm not part of the IMDB team/moderators, but it's not advisable to post any "private" info in a public forum like this one (private e-mails, contracts, etc) - or any forum for that matter. When you "edit" the film page, scroll down and choose "Other Corrections => Miscellaneous Comments". There you can add links for the data managers (e.g. screen caps that you've added to some of the image hosting sites, etc). I would still be extra careful with private e-mails and written contracts.

At the end of the day the final, released "product" (film, TV episode, etc) is the best "proof" since it usually have the opening/end credits and people can take some screen caps if needed from the actual film/show. However, I don't personally really know how IMDB works when it comes to films and TV series that are still in production (since it's a common knowledge that, sadly, e.g. some actors might even end up in the cutting room floor in the editing room).

Confirmation Emails for the film 'Other People':
Savannah mentioned since we dedicated our time to this project, that we would be credited.

Here are some screen shots for TED 2:
This was the first day I filmed.

This was the second day-

Here are my pay stubs and voucher for 'Nocturnal Animals'
For the role of "UT Student"

I have NOT been resubmitting. I only resubmitted once, which was the day I found out that they were removed. I didn't take that advice, because I know that IDMB could possibly terminate me. I just want my credits up on my page, regardless if it says 'uncredited'.

I'm trying to  find a screen shot of my close up from Fifty Shades of  Black, however it's difficult because it's still in theaters. Here is my pay stub as far as proof-

This is all the proof I can provide at this point.

Re: Other People

I don't see the reference to being credited.  That'd be the important part. Do you have any documentation that speaks to that? Normally background extras are not eligible for IMDb credit unless the name appears in on screen credits.

Can you post the submission Reference Numbers for the submissions so staff here can attach your screen shots to those items?

It's the 18-digit number in the emailed receipt of can be found in your account's View your contributions page.

I have NOT been resubmitting
I didn't say you had.  As I explained above, that was in reference to the bad advice you'd received (and your subsequent reply that said you would keep resubmitting).

I'd recommend adding a reply that is easy to read, for each item, like:

Staff:  Can you add verification documentation for:

Submission Number 160210-xxxxxx-xxxxx

IMDB accepts background actors, it even states on their page.

I delete  old submissions out of my history page after its been approved and accepted. I didn't think I would need it after a year.

Staff can you add verification documentation for these submissions;

Just to clarify, IMDb is a document of on screen credits in film and tv, first and foremost. Yes, some "uncredited" work can be added, as I've suggested a few times above.  Most extra work is not eligible for listing. But "uncredited" work can be considered and added.  You must be eligible, be seen on screen clearly recognizable, etc., as has been posted a few times above.  Not all "uncredited" work is eligible and there is no guarantee it'll be accepted nor that it won't be removed at some point. But, as I said above, extras are not normally listed. There is nothing anywhere on the site that suggests all background work will be listed. The site's mission is to display credited work. Background work might be added as an exception to the rule, if eligible.

Not really.  I'd have expected staff to stop by today and get it forwarded.

Let's work on this one by one.  So, I sent a submission to add the Ted 2 "uncredited" entry and included a link to the image by adding a "miscellaneous comment."

Maybe some of this can be resolved in the mean time. If you get screen shots to use, correct what is needed (remove "uncredited" attribute, correct character name/description, add the order number to place it correctly in the list, post them here or and then submit the corrections with a link to this thread where the image will be available to the page editor.

I will!! Thank you again.

I'm waiting for 'Fifty Shades' and 'Other People'  to be released so I can screen grab my close up and the ending credits.

Once I get what's needed, then I will get the chance to correct the character name/description accurately.

I received this message this morning from IMDB.... so are they saying since due to high volume they are UNABLE to check for my credit? What that doesn't make any sense.

Greetings Ms. Karissa,

Thank you for contacting us.

Our records show that you currently have 5 credits displayed on your filmography page, see here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4983389/

Please remember that all information submitted to IMDb is routinely checked and is always subject to change.

We regret that, due to the extremely high volume of updates, we are unable to look into specific instances of deleted/changed data.

For details on how and why credits may temporarily or permanently be removed from our pages, please refer to:

http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?whydeleted

If you believe that information has been deleted incorrectly, please resubmit the data and our editors will review your update and make all applicable changes.

Thank you for your understanding.

You've asked them to look into why it was changed.

Their response is, pretty much, "we're too busy with new requests to dwell on what happened in the past, so just re-submit it if something is currently missing"...which is what we've done.

The answer to why is...either the listings did not match on screen credits, could not be verified or they were found not to be eligible.

In any of those cases, submitting them accurately this time, with evidence to support it, would address any of those reasons.  So whether it's A,B or C...or some combination, you still need to resubmit them correctly with evidence...so there's no point in finding out what happened previously.

With 250,000,000 visitors to the site per month, re-answering the same questions over and over would keep staff from being able to have time to process all the new requests coming in. So, most questions you can think of to ask are already answered in the help area. So rather than take time to write out the answer again for you, they give you the link which pretty much covers the "why?" Then they assume you'll know which applies to you.

I guess it can't hurt. But I'd say we're beyond that now and it probably doesn't matte at this point.

Hi Karli -

I just wanted to note here that your missing credits for most of these titles ("Ted 2", "Fifty Shades of Black", and "Nocturnal Animals") have now been re-listed on your filmography here.

Concerning "Other People", I noted that your recent credit submission for this title is still pending.  I noted the e-mail screen grab you posted for this credit, however, we cannot verify credits based on e-mail correspondence, so if you have any additional evidence for this title please post it here and our staff can take a look.
