Images to correct

Hi,

I noticed problems to correct for some images displayed on IMDb:

1- Capharnaüm (2018):

a- First image:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8267604/mediaviewer/rm4119163392.

The countries associated with this image are partly wrong. Indeed, it’s a French poster written in French, so it cannot be affiliated with Germany & Italy. The German (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capernaum_–_Stadt_der_Hoffnung) & Italian (

https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cafarnao_-_Caos_e_miracoli) titles are indeed written differently: « Capharnaüm » in French as on the poster, « Capernaum » in German & « Cafarnao » in Italian. Moreover, there are other posters in German & Italian already displayed on this IMDb page. I made a contribution, but it was refused by IMDb team: https://contribute.imdb.com/contribution/210710-112722-010402

b- Second image:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8267604/mediaviewer/rm395478273

This photo in German has a wrong type. It’s currently classified as a poster, whereas it is a DVD jacket. Can you please change the type to « Product/Box Art »?

2- Kamikaze (1986):

This poster has not a very good quality (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091322/mediaviewer/rm1757076225). Indeed, the colors are faded, if you compare it to the original poster already displayed on IMDb (so, it’s a duplication also). The main problem I have is that, even if it’s not the primary image, it’s the one primarily displayed on the Smartphone version (hopefully, not on the desktop version) in France:

As it is a duplication and as the other posters already registered on this IMDb page for France have a much better quality, can you please remove it? I made a contribution, but it was refused:

https://contribute.imdb.com/contribution/210714-115841-328902

3- Madre (2019):

Same problem as for « Kamikaze » here above. The poster is too dull/dark (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9234450/mediaviewer/rm1679589633), compared to the original one already registered on IMDb for France. Please find here after some evidence: https://7alyon.com/cinema-madre-de-rodrigo-sorogoyen-critique-du-film and https://store.potemkine.fr/dvd/5051889666424-madre. The main problem I have is that, despite not being the primary image, it is the one primarily displayed on the IMDb Smartphone app in France (hopefully, it is ok on the desktop version):

As it is a duplication and as the other posters already registered on this IMDb page have a better quality, can you please remove it? I made a contribution, but it was refused by IMDb team:

https://contribute.imdb.com/contribution/210715-144317-020902

4- Vivement dimanche (1983):

This poster

(https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086551/mediaviewer/rm3741188352) is the one primarily displayed on IMDb Smartphone app in France, despite not being the primary image (another one is used on the IMDb desktop version). The main problem I have is that it is truncated:

It’s the same problem as for « Kamikaze » & « Madre » here above. As there are other original posters with the proper format on this IMDb page, can you please choose another poster to be displayed on the IMDb Smartphone app for France? I do not ask for a removal of this image (as it has a correct quality), just for a change as main image on the Smartphone app.

Thanks for your help

Hi @Bethanny,

It has been corrected for 2 movies, where the correct poster is now displayed on the IMDB mobile app in France:

* « Madre » (photo here below)

* « Kamikaze » (photo here below)

However, @Bethanny, there are still 2 problems remaining:

1- Capharnaüm (2018):

This poster in French (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8267604/mediaviewer/rm4119163392) is not used in Germany and Italy, as wrongly displayed on IMDb. Please remove these 2 countries from this poster.

Here is the poster in German used in Germany (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8267604/mediaviewer/rm1960361217) and correctly tagged on IMDb. Please find evidence: https://www.filmstarts.de/kritiken/251090.html

Here is the poster in Italian used in Italy (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8267604/mediaviewer/rm1821541633) and correctly tagged on IMDb. Please find evidence: https://www.comingsoon.it/film/cafarnao-caos-e-miracoli/54864/scheda

2- Vivement dimanche (1983):

There is still this truncated image (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086551/mediaviewer/rm3741188352) used as the main poster on your mobile app in France:

Please find a solution to avoid using this image as the main poster. Maybe, convert it from poster as « production art », but I let you choose the right way.

Thanks for your help

@Bethanny

Thank you very much

Everything is fine indeed now. No truncated poster anymore for « Vivement dimanche »:

Hi mompart -

Regarding your updates:

1) For the first image, I can confirm that your request to remove both countries: Italy and Germany, was declined because we believe that this poster is being used in those countries.  The country should only be removed in instances where a different poster is being used for the title in those regions.

For the second image, the image type has now been adjusted to "product", the change should be live on the site shortly.

2)  I can see that there are other similar poster images with slight color differences, so it doesn't appear to be an exact duplicate.  Our editors declined the removal request because the image was not in violation of our guidelines.

3) The poster image you reported cannot be removed because it is a press kit image that is being used within editorial features on the site.  Additionally, there are slight shading differences, so it is not an exact duplicate.

4) Concerning the display of the localized primary image on the IMDb app for this title and all of the mentioned titles above.  I am not certain what is causing this selection, I have filed a ticket to the appropriate team for further investigation.  As soon as I have an update I will relay the information here.

Cheers!

@Michelle , here are my answers:

1- Capharnaüm (2018):

a- It is not possible this poster

(https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8267604/mediaviewer/rm4119163392) was used in Germany & Italy. Indeed, it’s fully written in French. Moreover, the release date displayed is the one for France, the 17th of October 2018, whereas it was released the 17th of January 2019 in Germany and the 11th of April 2019 in Italy. Here are the German poster of this movie written in German (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8267604/mediaviewer/rm1960361217) and the Italian poster of the movie written in Italian (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8267604/mediaviewer/rm1821541633). I went to a German film website and here is how the movie is known in Germany, « Capernaum - Stadt der Hoffnung »: https://www.filmstarts.de/kritiken/251090.html. « Capernaum » is also the title used on the German Wikipedia and on the German poster I found on IMDb here above. So, the title « Capharnaüm » and the release date (17th of October) used on the poster in French I want you to correct are both unknown in Germany. I did the same for Italy, with the Italian film website here after: https://www.comingsoon.it/film/cafarnao-caos-e-miracoli/54864/scheda. The title used, « Cafarnao - Caos e miracoli », is the same as on the Italian Wikipedia and the same as on the Italian poster I found on IMDb here above. You also see on this Italian film website that the release date is different from the poster I ask you to correct. So, with all this evidence, please remove « Germany » & « Italy » as countries using this poster.

b- Thanks to have corrected this image (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8267604/mediaviewer/rm395478273). It’s fine now. Subject closed.

2- Kamikaze (1986) & 3- Madre (2019) and 4- Vivement dimanche (1983):

In fact, I was maybe wrong in asking for removal. The real problem for me is that they are used as main image on IMDb Smartphone app in France, whereas there are other posters with better quality that could be used. As they are not primary image on IMDb, it’s impossible to change them. One of them is even fully truncated:

So, can’t you prevent these 3 posters (especially the one displayed truncated) from being the main image on French Smartphone app?

I think I know what happened. On Smartphone, IMDb made an evolution this summer, in order to display the poster used in the country where the user comes from (poster from France if you are French, etc). IMDb then automatically selects the main image on Smartphone among all the posters from this country (using the tag « country » on the posters). But how IMDb selects the poster if there are several from the same country is a mystery. For the one truncated especially (Vivement dimanche) that cannot be used as a primary image (problem of format), if you change the type from poster to « production art » (or the type you think is the best), it will not be displayed in France as main image on my Smartphone app. I am 100% sure.

Thanks for your help
