If people can change to the gender they identify with why can’t i remove an age I didn’t put up if I DO NOT identify with it?
Honest question….. Some of us do not identify as the gender we are assigned… They are given the option to change it on their page….
Just like that some of us do not identify with the AGE that is displayed on IMDB…. I sincerely am curious how if birthdates are used in identity theft, and also used AGAINST actors in various ways…why is this STILL an issue where if someone does not feel comfortable having their birthday displayed on a platform that is used BY THE INDUSTRY for employment..why they simply can opt not to have it displayed.
In an audition it is ILLEGAL to ask anyone over 18 their age…. All we simply have to say is “over 18”
how is this any different?
People are losing representation, job opportunities, and much more because this platform displays an age that does not align with what that actor portrays on screen. THEY ARE ACTORS…. It is entirely unfair to take work away from a talented performer because they are 32 but couldn’t play over 22 if it saved their life on camera…. Or a woman who is 50 not being able to get the role of a 42 year old because according to the industry 50 should be a grandma….
and this is not only an AGE issue…but a GENDER issue, because the main performers who are effected by this is WOMAN.
Tell me i am wrong…….
and in closing….. TIME does not even exist…(truly, it was made by humans to be able to tell when crops come in) therefore ones concept of “age” may differ from another’s…. Some are only as old as they feel.
I personally do not subscribe to any age…as it limits myself into a box of Time that frankly is someone else’s timeline not my own.
we ALL have different timelines…and this AGGRESSIVE restriction on allowing people the opportunity to “opt out” displaying their birthdays on THIS PLATFORM is abusive, and destructive.
Sure it may be displayed on other websites or platforms but EVERYONE KNOWS THIS is the site that the industry people in CHARGE of hiring refer too.
It is shameful .
