How to get featured editorial blocks (like "Through the Years") on my personal IMDb page?

Hello IMDb team,

I am trying to find out how I can get specific featured/editorial blocks on my own IMDb profile. I see these custom blocks on other actor pages and I want to add something similar (like a "See the gallery" or "Watch now" section) to my page.

Here are a few examples of the blocks I am referring to:

  • Robin Williams (nm0000245): "Robin Williams: Classic Movie and TV Moments - We miss Robin Williams. Let's take a closer look at the various roles he played throughout his acting career. (Watch now)"

  • Rhys Ifans (nm0406975): "Meet the Cast and Characters - Prepare for the new season with a quick refresher on the major new and returning players in this 'Game of Thrones' prequel. (See who's who)"

  • James Caan (nm0001001): "Remembering James Caan (1940–2022) - We celebrate the life of iconic actor James Caan, best known for his roles in The Godfather, Misery, and Thief. (See more photos)"

  • Leonardo DiCaprio (nm0000138): "Leonardo DiCaprio Through the Years - Take a look back at Leonardo DiCaprio's career on and off the screen. (See the gallery)"

My questions are:

  1. How can I activate, create, or request blocks like these for my own profile?

  2. Why do these blocks sometimes appear in completely different locations depending on the page?

Thank you for clarifying!

Hi kannotlogin,

These are features added to particular pages by our own Editorial team, and not something contributors can add themselves, so you won't be able to add these to your own Name page. As for why they sometimes appear in different locations, I can't speak to that right now but can check in with the team if this is still of interest to you.

I hope this helps!

Hi Ozzy,

Thank you for the quick and clear response! Yes, I would still very much like to know why these editorial blocks appear in completely different locations depending on the page. If you could check with the team, I would really appreciate it.

I also have one follow-up question regarding the Editorial features: Is there any formal way to pitch my profile or projects to the Editorial team for a feature like a basic "Photo Gallery" or "Through the Years" list?

Thank you for your time and help!

Hi @kannotlogin,

Thanks for your patience while I checked in with the team on this.

These editorial blocks appear in different locations depending on the page: IMDb designates merchandising slots on Name and Title pages specifically for promoting editorial content. There are two primary "center" slots on each page type, and those slots sit in different positions depending on whether it's a Name page or a Title page.

As we often have several pieces of editorial content related to a high-ranking name or title, the team might for example, schedule a gallery in one slot and a list in a different one. Sometimes there are multiple pieces of content scheduled for the same page, and which one you'll see can vary. That's why you might notice these blocks appearing in different spots across different pages, it depends on what content is scheduled and where.

As for pitching your profile for an editorial feature: these are curated by our Editorial team based on their own programming decisions, and there isn't a formal process for requesting one. They're typically tied to major releases, cultural moments, or significant career milestones. It's not something we're able to accommodate on a request basis, but we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in making your Name page stand out.

I hope this helps!
