How long does it take?

220419-051833-829000  Normally, after I make a contribution, it gets declined within 48 hours.  This one has been sitting for over a week now. And there's no "Track Contribution" button to press.  I fully expect it to be declined. Because the editors are inept and everything I submit gets declined. Because it can't be "verified".  In this case, the title has been misspelled. The letter 'n' is missing. The actual poster has the correct spelling. So, if the editor was to look at the page they might notice that the office poster does not match what is on IMDb. But, as I've learned in recent weeks, they don't seem to look at the IMDb page before declining submissions. It's crazy but it's true.  Just look the poster on the page. It's that easy. But, they won't do it.  Trying to fix the most basic mistakes on IMDb is a relentlessly soul-destroying experience, because dealing with gross incompetence on a grand scale is a soul-destroying experience.

Oldest item of Title Core shows 25 April here: https://contribute.imdb.com/times So it means it's already declined since your submission is from 19 April. I don't know what you're trying to correct so I can't comment on that specifically (maybe it's something that requires an onscreen title card evidence) but I feel like I have to share a similar soul-destroying experience here (there is a staff response in it about them not looking the poster on imdb so it's very relevant here, you may find that response helpful) Last year I was trying to add an English AKA, imdb display title entry for USA on a foreign title (well, already added it but somehow it was added with a bad attribute or someone changed the attribute after I added and I was trying to change it to imdb display title back because there was no imdb display title entry for USA at that moment). Sounds like the simplest thing in the world right? IMDb already has the English poster as a primary poster clearly showing the English title on the show's imdb page. Still I also provided official production company site that clearly shows what their official English title is. But that shouldn't have been needed because they already had the English poster right there on imdb as a primary image. After my attempts were failed and declined with "unable to verify" I provided my submission numbers to the support by hoping they would solve this simple issue. First response from Charlie from support: "In order to process your request, we will need some additional information to support the contributions. Would it be possible for you to send any links as evidence to confirm them?" The title page on IMDb already has the English poster as the primary image when he's saying he needs "additional information to support the contributions" and asking for evidence. The title page has the poster right there on IMDb. Not to mention I also already provided the official site URL in some attempts. Second try by hoping someone else would respond, but no success, Charlie replied again with this: "In order to process these requests, we need some additional information in support. Please send any links as evidence to confirm the changes you're making and we can investigate and amend/advise as appropriate." He needs links from me to "investigate" what's the English title of the show when IMDb already has the English poster as primary image. And when I already provided official site URL previously. Tried again by hoping maybe someone helpful like Michelle would respond, but no, then all of my messages started to be ignored for days. After some days of them ignoring my messages, finally a response came from someone else, from Elizabeth, which was this: "this title text already exists as an AKA. If you believe it should be primary instead please include URL evidence with your submission or a specific explanation." Not Charlie finally but still asks me for evidence when they have the English poster right there in the title page. I replied and said: "why do I have to add a link while you can see the title right there in the primary poster in the imdb page already? And I had included the official site URL already" And this was Elizabeth's response which would be helpful to you too about what to do when the evidence is in the IMDb itself: "Thanks for your response. IMDb asks for evidence in the submission because it's necessary the evidence be in the actual submission. If there's a poster, you can include the link to that poster in the submission form as evidence." And I did what she said, I included "the link to that poster in the submission form as evidence", I did exactly what she said and re-submitted. And here is the thing. Do you know what happened? "Unable to verify" happened again, even after I included the link to the poster on imdb in the submission form as evidence, just like I was told. And I replied with that new submission number and finally after that, they amended the title. It took more than a week, and all of these conversations to add a simple English AKA to a title, which already had the English poster as the primary image right there on the site. "Soul-destroying" is really an accurate way to describe this.

@mbmb Wow. That's ridiculous.  And, as I suspected, it's not just down to one or two individuals. The entire system is broken, and there's a lack of logic/common sense to what they are doing.  For example, I was told - on this forum - that screengrabs were the best option for some corrections. I included some to correct 2 "credit only" attributes. And guess what? Still declined.  The case mentioned above concerns a 1980s film called "Trancers" which was shown on BBC2 as part of a film season in 1989. The IMDb page for the 1989 airing is a bare bones affair. It only has the name of the film, the date it aired on BBC2, the film's poster, the duration, the genre and the name of the man who introduced the film and talked about it. That's all there is. Thing is: the name of the film is misspelled. It is listed as "Tracers." On a page which has only 6 items of data it's not difficult to spot the mistake! Even if you have never heard of Trancers, it's possible to see the official poster on the IMDb page. It's the only image there!  Is there a movie called "Tracers"? Sure there is. It was released 26 years after the 1989 airdate listed on the page. And that brings us back to the 1984 film.  So, of all the things I've had declined, and there is a long list now, this is the possibly the easiest to verify. Just looking at the IMDb page and seeing the only image there (an official poster) should be enough. That would probably take less than 5 seconds. Yet, there'll eventually be some lame excuse posted about "workload" and "volume of data" and blah, blah, blah.  5 seconds! If even that.  The editors just don't care! And there is a definite culture of keeping whatever is already in place. They simply don't want to change existing data, no matter how incorrect it may be.  It's soul-destroying dealing with them.

Hi RikerDonegal & mbmb - I understand how frustrating it is to have valid corrections be declined, especially when you have taken the time to provide clear and relevant explanations and evidence. I'm also terribly sorry to hear of these experiences and the lack of resolution you encountered while trying to make these simple title corrections, both in corresponding with our customer support team and in resubmitting the updates with evidence.  I have taken all the examples and comments from this thread and escalated them for further review.  In the meantime, I have approved the correction of the episode title to "Trancers" and the change is now live on the site. Thanks for reporting and sharing your feedback.
