How does the Parents Guide Work?
For example, Man on Fire has a 1 next to Profanity. Does that mean profanity is used only once in the movie? Violence and Gore says 22. Is it correct to assume there are 22 scenes with violence and gore?

In the context of the mobile interface of IMDb, indeed the number of items in (or scenes for) a content advisory category for the movie is displayed. Using https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0328107/parentalguide (Man on Fire, starring Denzel Washington) as an example, there is indeed one item for profanity but that it pertains to not necessarily just one scene and not necessarily just one instance of the use of a profane word. Likewise, indeed there are twenty-two items in the "violence & gore" category, and each one refers to either a distinct scene or a distinct shot/aspect/part within a distinct scene. The IMDb parents guide for some movies may contain items that pertain to collections of distinct scenes, or themes/characters/elements of the movie overall. (That's certainly how some of the ones written entirely by me are formatted. I try to provide an brief outline of the most extreme/alarming parts of a movie for each category.)
