How do IMDB data editors verify goofs?

Does anybody know how IMDB data editors review and verify goofs submitted by contributors at scale? It seems highly unlikely that they can review each piece of trivia or goofs submitted with the number of films in existence, much less other media.

I’ve been intensely curious to learn how this is possible for a while but am having trouble tracking down the answer. Appreciate any insight!

Hi keepcuriousco -

We have an editorial team who review data submissions. Goof submissions, along with all other data submissions, go through a series of consistency checks to ensure it's as accurate and reliable as possible.

If you are curious about how many submissions are pending for a specified data type I encourage you to review our Data Processing Times page here: https://contribute.imdb.com/times?ref_=helpms_ch_ci_processing

I hope this helps!

This is just an observation, but in addition to what @Michelle said, I know that IMDb also relies on its community of contributors, as in peer review.

I've read goofs that were completely incorrect, and after carefully watching and re-watching that scene to be sure, I'll submit a delete request. I explain my reasons very thoroughly and always offer to provide screenshots or audio if requested. I don't recall ever having a delete request declined. I would hope that if I submitted an incorrect goof, that someone would come along and do the same for me!
