How do I change my permanent profile picture if I'm not IMDB pro?

You need to have an IMDb Pro account to upload or change a personal profile photo.

Pardon me for interrupting.  I'm reminded of a question that came to mind in a similar situation before, and since then I have been curious to know the answer, so I guess I'll go ahead and ask here:

Since as in this case the OP says she currently does not use IMDbpro, and if as you say a Pro account would be needed to upload a profile photo ... is there no doubt that a Pro account must have been used to upload the existing profile photo that name page?  I've been curious to know if it is ever possible for profile photos to be added to name pages in some way without using Pro?  No, that's never possible?

There was an old service that allowed headshots to be added without requiring a subscription. Such photos may still be active.

Bus is the current image on Becky's page that old?

For celebrities, IMDb may also use an image from another source.

I would suggest that a Pro subscription may exist which has been used for your page, if not by you then perhaps a representative?

The image on my page was put up before IMDBPro was around. I'm attempting to update it without paying a monthly fee. It's a really outdated picture.

There is  an active IMDb Pro account under your name, which if not you someone else has set up like an agent of yours. I would suggest asking around and see if you can find who set it up and maintains it because it has to have a yearly subscription to keep it going.

Sorry for butting in again, but if I may ask:

If you're not an employee, how do you know there's an active Pro subscription associated with that page?

Do you think the mere existence of a "pro-labs" page proves the existence of a paid subscription?   I don't think it does.  AFAIK, for every IMDb name page there is a corresponding "pro-labs" page, right?

I think it is now time for an IMDb representative to
join this discussion and provide definitive advice to the OP.

I'm out ...

No active IMDB Pro account = no photo.... simple.
Life has been a mystery since 1974.

A related question: I have an imdb pro account, upload a picture, then end my subscription after a month, will the photo then disappear? Just want to make sure that I don't need an ongoing pro account to keep a photo on my page.

Not quite so simple.  There is an exception
(as I've just now been reminded by reading some earlier discussions):

Photos that were added via the old "Publicity Photo" system will
remain permanently, even without an IMDbPro subscription.

Here is the help page that explains this:

www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?publicityupdatephotos

   >  "If you were an IMDb Publicity Photo customer in the early 2000s, the photos you purchased will remain on IMDb permanently.  There will be no additional charges.   However, if you wish to either change or update your photos, you need to sign-up for IMDbPro and use the Resume feature included with this service.
"

(I indicated that I would exit this discussion, so I'll do so now.
If anything more needs to be said, I hope an IMDb representative will reply.)

Hi Kay, That was my problem. IMDB removed my updated picture after I ended my subscription to IMDB Pro.

Got it. Looks like imdb has figured out a much better way of making money. Thank you @Becky Stockton and @Nobody. Appreciate it.

Looks like it. You would think they would want their content to be accurate & up to date. I guess I'm stuck with a decades old picture.

@Becky, you would have an old publicity photo. The only way to update it is to re-join IMDb Pro and change it as you have said you did in the past. Apart from that staff could remove it at your request if that's what you wish.

Thanks TomTom - the only problem with updating via IMDBPro is the updated pictures are removed if you don't continue to pay a large fee. The outdated picture remains though.

... The outdated picture remains though.
IIUC, the reason why It remained is because the old publicity photo deal allowed for permanency.

As tomtom noted, we believe that if you ask IMDb to remove it they'll do so.

(I keep saying I'm done with this discussion.  Why am I back?)   [shrug]
