How do I change a Self credit to an Actor credit?

Hi! I am simply trying to move my actor credit on Chelsea from the Self section on my IMDB page to the Actor section on my IMDB page:
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2060057/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I am having the same issue. I abhor social media management because they refuse to be available for any real issues. They just provide FAQ for common problems.

Hello, Scott.

That problem usually appears on titles which are Documentaries and is corrected using the "reenactment" keyword. Apparently same situtation is evident with the talk-shows which does not have any other genre listed. Seems it is evident that "Chelsea" also has comedy sketches it will probably correct the situation if genre "comedy" will be inserted. I'll try to do that and, if nothing gets in the way, the credit will move to "Actor" in 48 hours or less.

You're welcome, but I'm actually not sure 100% that would help, as I've stumbled upon talk-shows which does not have that sort of problem. I'm really interested in what IMDb staff will answer in regards of the situation (I am myself merely a concerned and active user, hence the champion status).

I used this fix with my series that was listed as a 'documentary'. I switched it to 'history' and it worked.

If it is a documentary, though, it might have both documentary and actors credited as actors: it just takes a keyword "reenactment".

Hi Nikolay,

Thanks for responding, you are correct about the reenactment keyword. Adding another genre to the talk show example will not fix the display "self" issue though, you would need to add the reenactment keyword to the series instead.

I hope this helps.

Will

Thanks, Will!

Added the keyword to all of the episodes as situation, as far as I checked, affected numerous filmographies of actors in sketches.

Hi there, I've read this fix about adding the "reenactment" keyword and I just don't understand it, or maybe it doesn't apply to my situation. I produce a show called "Foxhole Live". I want to move the host (Tim Frank) from the "Self" area to the "Actor" area as the character name "Tim". I've changed his character name from "Self" to "Tim", but he remains in the "Self" area rather than "Actor" area. Can anyone please advise? Thanks so much.

Why should the host not be listed as Self?

A couple of reasons. He's not exactly himself, he's sort of playing the character or host "Tim". Additionally, it is affecting the actor's imdb credits, making him look more like a Producer/Director/Writer first, rather than an actor first. Realistically, he has far more overall credits as an actor, but this credit showing up as "Self" rather than "Actor" is tipping the balance away from his acting credits. See here:

His management requested we fix this for him

As you suggested, adding the keyword reenactment is probably necessary. Even if the character name does not include Self, the credits are still sorted as Self because of the non-fiction categorization of the show.

On the series page under Storyline there are currently two keywords listed, web-series and non-fiction. If you click the edit feature, you can add a keyword. Based on  previous experience, I think you should probably use the form's episode field to add the keyword to all the episodes.

If you don't think non-fiction is accurate you can also try to delete it in the edit feature, but I think you may still need to add reenactment.
