How do I change a credit to a different department?

I have recently been fixing up my credits as I haven't updated it in over a decade. Some of my credits had been entered by third parties years ago, and they aren't correct. I have credits from two series which were accidentally applied to the Camera and Electrical Department, but they should really be in the Editorial Department Member Credits. Is there an easy way to change this? Or should I just re-add them to the correct department and delete the old entries?

Thanks in advance,

Brad

Hi @bradphippsnz,

Please refer to the FAQ on our How do I correct credits? Help page:

I can't see how to change the role performed on a Crew credit

It's not possible to use the Credit correction function to change the crew role performed (e.g. changing department from "additional crew" to "assistant director").

To do this, you need to submit a delete for the credit, and then re-submit a new credit in the correct department. When submitting the deletion for the wrong department, make sure to use the explanation field to tell our editors what your intentions are as this will help in reviewing the request.

I hope this helps!

Are you referring to to the DIT credits? Because they should be in 'Camera and Electrical Department',so if so they are right, that's where IMDb wants them.

@VonPunk Yeah, unfortunately my DIT role wasn't in the true sense, I never went on location or on set, it was more a glorified AE. My role was much more tied to editorial, hence why I wanted to shift them.

Hello bradphippsnz,

As VonPunk mentioned, the credits will have to remain in the 'Camera and Electrical Department' as per our Camera Department help guide.

@bradphippsnz Sounds like a grey area sometimes, much like 'Data Wrangler', 'Tech Supervisor' and 'Media Manager', they end up all over place.

@VonPunk Thanks for all the replies everyone. I guess the DIT credits I've put in Editorial will eventually migrate to where IMDB wants them to be. :)
