Solved

How can I post a review for Wake Up Dead Man, the new Knives Out Mystery?

The third Knives out movie premiered at the Toronto film festival (TIFF), September 6, and I saw it at the London Film Festival on the 8th of October. These dates are recorded in the release date section for the movie on the IMDb, but I'm not able to either vote on the movie or lodge a review.

Hi matthew_scott_7622690 - You will be able to add ratings and a User Review for this title on October 17th. I hope this helps!

Why has this film been given an exemption to the standard policy? Isn't the general rule that user ratings and reviews are available once a film has been screened at a publicly available screening, including film festivals?

Hi mtlfilmfreak, Apologies for any confusion caused here. For clarity, a title requires a public screening and a release date listed on IMDb to match, in order to be open for ratings and reviews on IMDb. However, in certain cases film festival premieres do not count as public screenings, as they're often not open to the general public. Where the issue here lies, is that there was an ongoing discussion as to whether the later film festival release dates were premieres, and therefore closed to the public. Now they have been considered public screenings, the title is open for ratings and reviews. So you will now be able to post your review and add your rating for this title across all IMDb platforms. I hope this helps!

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery has a first release date listed as September 6, 2025 from TIFF, and has other festival release dates already passed. I have just seen it at FNC in Montreal (even though that isn't listed in the release dates). But voting for it is blocked. Shouldn't it automatically be available once the film has screened at a public film festival?
