How are Non U.S. Voters rating a movie when it is only available in the U.S.?
My movie was just released domestically and should only have ratings from U.S. voters, but I see 20 Non U.S. voters giving ratings to my movie even though they don't have access to it. Is there a way to prevent these non u.s. voters from having a rating if it isn't available overseas?

Hello,
This rating system that does not verify whether these raters have actually viewed the film is mis-leading and discouraging. Our trailer isn't even on IMDb yet, just some pics. Our small independent movie just came out for viewing (rent/purchase) on very limited release at this time with practically no advertising, so it is buried on a streaming platform right now. I know those that have actually viewed it are cast family and friends that watched it on premiere night.
However, from being able to see who exactly viewed/purchased it through our distributor, I know we have only had 1 non-US purchase and yet there are 12 non US ratings on IMDb.
Out of the 19 ratings IMDb says it has, it shows that 18 of the ratings are from people over the age of 29, and 16 of those people are male---which is hilarious because we made our film for females ages teenagers-twenties!
Anyway these predominantly older male haters are sandbagging our little project, which is sad because this rating will probably prevent our target audience from viewing it and enjoying it, as it becomes more widely available and advertised.
We have one rating on IMDb from a female 18-29 and she gave our film a 10. :)
