House of Cards Trilogy (org. British series), problem with seasons
The original British trilogy [House of Cards (TV Mini-Series), To Play The King (TV Mini-Series), and The Final Cut (TV Mini-Series)], on which the American House of Cards is based on, is split into three separate entities on IMDb. That is tt0098825, tt0108962, and tt0111960 respectively. The only way they are connected are by "connections" and that is tentative, because they do not intertwine perfectly with references missing making the picture of the overall trilogy incomplete. It is correct that BBC did release the three MINI-series separately in the 1990s, but they intended the three mini-series to wrap us as a single complete trilogy. Would it therefore not be correct to have them listed as Seasons 1, 2, and 3 instead under the overall title "The House of Cards Trilogy (1990-1995) (TV Series)" instead? And put the titles of these seasons under AKA — like on American Horror Story, where Season 1 is really named "Murder House" and so on. I mean, at least AhS is listed as one unit, even when the producers, directors, and even actors are not necessarily the same. In that way, AhS could actually be seen as different tv series, but it would be really annoying to search for them separately — as they lead to one goal even when they are so different. This is the same thing with HoC Trilogy by BBC. It is annoying as hell to search for them separately when you know they lead to the same goal and are continuations upon one another. My question really is: How do I merge these three titles correctly without screwing up the cast credits and such?

No sorry, these should remain as separate titles and, as you note, are connected via the http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098825/trivia?tab=mc

I do understand your concern, but I beg to differ. The description of the series are "Francis Urquhart returns in the second serial [...]" and "In the final serial of the House of Cards trilogy [...]" Notice the use of the word serial. This word means that they are part of the same overall series. Like Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are also serials published in newspapers along the year. Nowadays, however, the serials have been collected into a single book to allow continuous reading. That is the same case with this TV Serial. This is not any different than e.g. American Horror Story where they change the whole cast between seasons. In the case of HoC even, the cast remains the same. These three so-called mini-series are actually seasons that were filmed with about 1.5 years time lapse in between. Netflix and the likes all stream the series as a single, continuing series where they name the seasons instead. Since it is BBC who define how to layout their streams, it must be in BBC's interest to have these three series as a united entity. It can also be bought as a collective bundle on BBC Store in the UK: https://store.bbc.com/house-of-cards/bundles/house-of-cards-trilogy Notice the similarity:
