Hidden writer attributes

Is it intentional that source titles are hidden in writer credits in Full Cast & Crew pages? Why are they not displayed?

Thanks for your observation and posting the example. I've filed a ticket to confirm whether the display is intentional or whether this is a bug in the system. As soon as I have a definitive answer I will follow-up with you here.

FWIW, I feel it's a bug in the system if you have information in your system that you don't share with your users. Users of the site shouldn't have to go to the trouble of clicking the update button and doing some scrolling to find the name of the novel.

I agree with Marco. Submitters of writing credits are asked to provide the title of the source (see https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/writers/GPLAT3NTCGA67A6R#), which implies that the source title is going to be displayed to users.

This seems like a bug since it is not hidden in reference mode. (I could see this in default mode as it compacts data such as writers.) It should probably at least be consistent.

Thanks for posting additional comments, the issue has been identified as a bug in the system and is currently being investigated. When I have a current status on the fix I will let you know here.

It looks like this happens when the attribute starts with "novel" or "book", but not other descriptions like "short story" or "screenplay".

I noticed "novella" is also shortened to "novel":

To enable this thread to be found again in a search, I'm going to mention that the title of the source novel Alias Madame Doubtfire (by Anne Fine) is still not displayed in the IMDb writing credits for Mrs. Doubtfire.
