Hi I need help adding a celebrity to a project I am producing.  Celebrity has passed away recently but he did agree to be on the project.  How can I prove he was to be on it?  I have a zoom recording saying he was, he is on our show's website as well.  Any help appreciated, thanks.

Will, this celebrity be named in a particular role in the actual credits sequence within the movie itself? That's mainly what matters, but if would be a "(credit only)" situation if the none of the decedent's work is represented in the movie.

Hi Jeorj,

Yes, the celeb agreed to the role but sadly passed away before the shoot. Do we put "credit only" on our IMDb and the ending credits sequence?

Hi @TheRealIanKane -

If you decide to credit the actor within the on-screen credits of your film, then their credit can be listed with a "credit only" attribute - this attribute indicates that a person was credited on the film but did not perform within title.  For more information I encourage you to review our Attributes Help Guide.

I hope this helps!

Thanks, Michelle, can we also add the actor as "credit only" on the TV series IMDb page?

Hi, Ian Kane. Nobody's purpose here is to tell you how to design the credits sequence of the movie. We're just trying to make it clear, in order for the actor to be included in the cast listing as it appears on IMDb, the actor will have to be named in the credits sequence of the movie. Since the actor won't actually be appearing in the movie, the cast listing on IMDb will have to have the "(credit only)" attribute applied. The credits sequence of the actual movie doesn't need to include a note to that effect. Understand?

ok jeorj_euler yes then thank you, add it as a "credit only" to the project.  Is there a way I can privately send you the IMDB link to the project then?

Ian: For clarity, in most cases if someone signed on to appear in a film or television project, but died before they could perform their role, I would expect to see them credited under a heading like "In memory of ..." or "Dedicated to ...", which on IMDb would be listed in the "Thanks" section of the credits.

It would be fairly unusual to see the person's name in the main cast listing if the person had not actually had the opportunity to perform a role.
